Sparkford 1.5 miles. Tucked away on the grounds of the owner’s picture-perfect home rests this remarkable barn conversion, Old Farm Stables. Framing fabulous countryside views and boasting an interior full of character, Old Farm Stables is a lovely base for a romantic getaway for two. Park up on the spacious driveway nestled at the foot of this lovely dwelling before unloading your belongings and marvelling at the picturesque setting of your home-from-home for the duration of your stay. Kick off your shoes as you step over the threshold and enter into the fabulous open-plan living space, with a high vaulted ceiling and exposed stonework paired with quality furnishings and décor, effortlessly blending traditional with contemporary. Make yourself at home as you snuggle up with your significant other on the sumptuous sofa, warming your toes with the glow of the woodburning stove, before making your way to the stylish kitchen, well-equipped with a range of modern amenities including a handy dishwasher, to rustle up a romantic meal for two. Enjoy a candlelit dinner for two at the nearby dining table or throw open the bi-fold doors and take your experience outdoors with a spot of alfresco dining in the peaceful setting of your private garden; a lovely spot to soak in the last of the evening sun as you toast a glass of fizz to an unforgettable holiday. As your eyes grow heavy, retire indoors and make your way into the king-size bedroom and make use of the handy en-suite shower to prepare for bed with an indulgent rinse before snuggling up under the covers. Get better acquainted with your surroundings and spend a fun-filled day out visiting the nearby Haynes International Motor Museum, home to the UK's largest exhibition of cars and motorbikes, and after working up an appetite, head to the Sparkford Inn to enjoy a bite to eat and a refreshing pint, if you time it right, you might even catch a spot of live music! Just a short drive away is the town of Bruton where you will find an excellent selection of eateries, including At the Chapel and Osip, and shops for a spot of retail therapy, as well as the historical landmark of Bruton Dovecote which rests in the lush grounds of the Jubilee Park and the grand Hasuer & Wirth Somerset art gallery, which is set in a restored and working farm, there is even the option to dine here too! There is also the Gilcombe Farm Shop where you can pick up fresh and local produce to cook up a flavoursome meal for your guests back at your holiday home. Be sure to stop at Castle Cary where you will find the historic Round House at the centre of the town or a scenic walk up to the scenic site of the Castle Cary Castle, a 15th-century tower house which overlooks the town. The town additionally rests near a Country Estate which beholds lovely Newt Gardens, along with nearby woodlands and orchards to visit. With both the Cranborne Chase and Dorset Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty within easy reach, you're in an outdoor adventurer’s paradise; lace up your walking boots and climb to the summit of Lewesdon Hill, the highest point in Dorset, or for a more leisurely stroll, explore the vibrant Victorian gardens at Larmer Tree Gardens. Additionally, you can venture to the nearby Wheathill Golf Club for a game, venture to the renowned Glastonbury Tor, or embark on a walk along the Jurassic Coast; all of these are a short drive away. With all of this and more, choose Old Farm Stables as a base that you'll be delighted to return to.
