In the centre of the charming Somerset village of Porlock, Oxford House can be found above a renowned art gallery and has wonderful views of the historic St. Dubricuos Church and surrounding countryside. This sunny light filled first-floor duplex apartment benefits from a fabulous location in the heart of the village with the bus stop in view, just outside, where the Exmoor Coaster (open top bus) can be taken to Minehead, Lynton and Ilfracombe. There are also numerous walks from the doorstep. The spacious interior has three well-equipped bedrooms; perfect for families or friends looking to explore all Somerset has to offer. Cross the threshold and head straight for the fully-equipped kitchen where you can rustle up tasty meals for the whole family that can be enjoyed around the dining table in the sitting room. After dinner, snuggle up with your loved ones on the plush sofas or raise a toast to your getaway with a glass of your favourite tipple. The first floor is completed by a beamed master king-size room whilst the second floor accommodates a further two double bedrooms. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic setting, explore the heart of Porlock where you can stock up on necessities at the stores merely paces away or enjoy a much-needed break from the kitchen by treating your loved ones to delicious meals at pubs like The Ship, The Castle, The Lorna Doone Hotel or The Royal Oak which all serve delicious food and a variety of drinks. On sunny days head to the South West Coast path a mile away, where you can walk the salt marshes and the shingle ridge. Bossington just 1.5 miles East has stunning cliff top walks and a beautiful tea garden. Go West 1.5 miles to Porlock Weir for delightful harbour cafes, pubs and a few independent shops. The historic village of Dunster is just 10 minutes drive away where a visit to the National Trust site of Dunster Castle is a must, for a great day out for all the family. If you are looking for Sandy beaches Minehead is the place for a traditional bucket and spade fish and chip experience. Outdoor enthusiasts will also be in their element thanks to the array of walking trails woven through the stunning countryside and coast; hike around Hurlstone Point, amble through Hawkcombe Woods, a National Nature Reserve or hike up to Dunkery Beacon the highest point on Exmoor for views stretching for miles. All of this and more awaits at Oxford House.
Porlock is a charming community that is within Exmoor National Park and is close to the picturesque North Somerset coast. The scenic harbour of Porlock Weir, only two miles away, offers great views across the Bristol Channel, and there are many of modest gift stores, pubs, cafes, and restaurants to be found here as well. Out of the hamlet and up a steep, twisting road, visitors can reach the Exmoor Hills, a popular destination for hikers, equestrians, and bikers, and home to wild ponies and red deer. Exmoor was named Europe's first International Dark Skies Reserve in 2011, making it a great starting point for a romantic evening spent stargazing thanks to the plethora of intriguing constellations that can be seen without any special equipment on a dark, moonless night. Fishing opportunities abound in the area surrounding Porlock, including in the nearby reservoirs and rivers of Exmoor. Golfers can stay in Porlock and go the seven miles to the nearest of numerous courses that dot the outskirts of Exmoor. Great day trips can be had by visiting the ancient village of Dunster, whose castle dominates the landscape, or by taking a journey on the West Somerset steam train along the coast to the quaint harbour town of Watchet. It's in a beautiful village with plenty of outdoor activities to keep even the most jaded traveller happy.

It has a great location in the quiet village of Porlock, next to a beautiful church and the Coaster bus stop. This made it very accessible to get to great beaches in North Devon, providing amazing views along the way. We enjoyed waking to The Porlock Weir hotel for delicious pizza via the beach - this was a lovely walk with a varied landscape. Oxford House is beautifully decorated with lots of art and interesting books. There was plenty of space for 6 of us to stay comfortably for the week. The owners were very accommodating, sending back our forgotten items very promptly.
