Bridges Cottage in Torquay, Devon, receives generally positive feedback for its charming character, convenient location, and thoughtful touches such as cream teas on arrival. Guests appreciate the property's proximity to local shops, cafes, and attractions, as well as its quietness and cleanliness. While some guests mention issues with comfort and maintenance, these are not universal experiences, and many express a desire to return.
The majority of guests find the cottage clean and well-presented, with only a few isolated comments about cleanliness issues such as crumbs under the toaster. The overall impression is that the property is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its easy access to local attractions, independent shops, and cafes. The proximity to the beach and coastal walks adds to the appeal, making it an ideal base for exploring Devon.
Comfort receives mixed reviews. While some guests find the bed comfortable and the cottage cosy, others report issues with the bed being difficult to access and the mattress being uneven. The overall comfort level is seen as satisfactory by most, but not without room for improvement.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the cottage being described as well-equipped. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as non-working lights and parking inconveniences. These comments suggest that while the facilities are good, attention to maintenance could enhance the experience.
Guests frequently mention the thoughtful gestures, such as the provision of cream teas and milk upon arrival. These touches are well-received and contribute positively to the overall experience, although it is noted that such gestures are a bonus and may not be guaranteed.

Several of the downstairs lights were not working, making the breakfast area very dark and dreary. We couldnât find any spare bulbs. Didnât like the dreary opaque film on most of the windows - you couldnât even gauge the weather. The heap of crumbs under the toaster was not good - found when trying to reach the power sockets behind it. We have stayed in Sykes accommodation many times, small and larger properties, they had always been brilliant. This one was the worst, the bed and lighting were especially difficult to cope with - we were so glad we were only staying 3 nights.

Would highly recommend staying there.

The cottage was clean, well equipt with a comfortable bed and super quiet. Only a short walk to babbacome downs to the beach or evening coastal walk. We had a very pleasant stay, the only caution is that the parking space is between 2 poles, not a problem for our Vauxhall mokka, but anything bigger and you might be struggling.
