This stunning penthouse is perched above Torquay harbourside in a grand Italianate villa, perfect for a luxury coastal getaway. When you step inside, you will feel instantly at home with the large windows making it difficult to tear yourself away from that view. A winding staircase leads up to the top of the tower, where the sumptuous master bedroom provides panoramic views out of its surrounding windows. After a day exploring you can prepare supper in your private kitchen sampling all the local seafood on offer in the harbour town below. Steeped in history The Tower was built for the first American Ambassador to England and incorporates Italian architectural ideas. During World War II The Home Guard used the tower as a lookout post for enemy aircraft. The Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw visited the Tower. He was the only person to have been awarded both a Nobel Prize for Literature (1925) and an Oscar (1938) for ‘Pygmalion’. The 1897 play ‘You Never Can Tell’ was set in Torquay.
