Foster's Barn is a very spacious, recently converted, architect designed, historic property in the heart of the west Suffolk countryside with lovely views and sunsets. Best suited to couples, and dog friendly, it is an ideal place to get away from it all for a quiet weekend or longer of rural bliss. Recent visitors: "We had a lovely time - thank you so much for letting us stay in such a wonderful place!"
Foster's Barn is a quiet, rural idyll in the heart of agricultural west Suffolk, less than 2 hours from London. Located in a picturesque spot and half a mile above the pretty Suffolk village of Hartest and within walking distance of The Crown pub. This is a quiet spot, with dark night skies unaffected by any nearby towns or busy roads.
The barn itself is very spacious, with an exposed timber frame stretching from one end to the other and with lots of daylight. A split level kitchen separates the main living room on one end, from the raised level spacious bedroom at the other end. There is also a modern WC with power shower. The main living space is generous with a central dining area and sitting room with 42" full Internet flat screen TV. Outside to the front, the barn has it's own gated, gravelled entrance courtyard, where you can park your car under the cover of an original timber lean-to, shared with our family vintage tractors. At the back is a large private garden, fenced for dogs, with a timber patio for outside eating. This beautiful garden looks miles due west down the Stour Valley, where you can sit and watch the setting sun in the evening.
Foster's Barn is the ideal spot for local walking and exploring. Hartest is set in gorgeous rolling countryside 25-minutes south of Bury St Edmunds and less than an hour west of Ipswich. It's a quintessential English country village: from here, it's easy to explore delights like the medieval half-timbered buildings of Lavenham and the village of Long Melford, whose setting inspired Gainsborough and Constable. Bury is renowned for the quality of food, whether you dine at one of its many cafes and restaurants, shop for fresh produce at the Saturday market or enjoy a pint of Greene King beer and a pub meal. Sudbury is also within easy reach with more shops and supermarkets. Rural Suffolk is the perfect place to slow down and completely relax. The beautiful landscape and historic towns and villages combine to create a place where everyone is welcome. It's great for cycling and walking with a favourite local route from the top of Hartest Hill with it views down to the village . Other local attractions nearby include Giffords Hall vineyard, Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall and Gainsborough's House & Museum. Foster's Barn is available for week-long stays and weekend bookings all year round, depending on availability.
The barn is related to, although entirely separate from, our other family property of Fosters Farmhouse also listed with Independent Cottages.
,Additional Information: WiFi, bed linen, heating fuel and electricity, water are included in the rental. Guests are asked to bring their own towels. One well-behaved dog is very welcome at no additional charge. Foster's Barn is a non-smoking property.
