1 Forge Cottages offers a quaint, characterful stay in a picturesque village with a friendly local pub. Its proximity to Suffolk's attractions is appreciated, though some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance.
Several reviews mention a lack of cleanliness, including dirty kitchenware and unemptied bins. However, not all reviews are negative, indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.
The cottage is praised for its excellent location in a lovely village with a good pub, and convenient access to local attractions like Aldeburgh beach and historical sites.
Guests find the cottage cosy and the heating adequate, but comfort is compromised by squeaky floorboards and limited bathing facilities, particularly for taller individuals.
Facilities are described as basic or in need of updating. Issues with hot water, a non-functional dishwasher, and a lack of shower facilities are recurrent concerns.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

In the heart of the Suffolk Heritage Coast, on the banks of the River Alde, sits the charming village of Snape. Three pubs and a village shop can be found in Snape, which all offer delicious food that is locally produced. Snape Maltings, a major tourist attraction on the Suffolk Coast with a number of gift shops and small enterprises providing a variety of cuisine, art, and crafts, is located just outside the settlement. The Snape Maltings Concert Hall, the site of the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which was established by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears in 1948, is also located there, along with a cafe, tea room, and bar. The market town of Woodbridge, which boasts a large range of stores, pubs, cafés, and restaurants, is only 10 miles from Snape. The region is a refuge for animals, and there are several well-traveled trails that go from Snape, such as the Sailors' Path, through historic forest and heathland to the well-liked seaside town of Aldeburgh. A stunning and serene location that attracts tourists all year long.

Loved the quirky upstairs sloping floor!! A couple of comments: 1) We found the only streetlight outside the bedroom window quite intrusive. Heavier or blackout curtains would improve this situation 2) A broom (to sweep, not ride) would have been very helpful!! 3) There is a constant dripping noise coming from the front guttering downpipe which we found annoying. We would definitely recommend the cottage and area to our friends and family, and really recommend people try try The Old Chequers pub over the road!!

I have never been so badly treated in my life. Iâm awaiting a response from the owners, regarding some sort of compensation. I have another holiday booked with Sykes in November for nearly £800. Iâm now looking at ways legally to cancel this. I have been told by a member of the team at Sykes I canât cancel. Iâve since contacted a company called Irwin Mitchell. Iâve sent lots of evidence and pictures to them yesterday as I did Sykes Iâm awaiting to hear back on my complaint with Skyes, Mr S Hunt
