About this property

Set in a farming area and overlooking the River Arrow, on the edge of the village of Huntington, Herefordshire, is this historic watermill, Halls Mill. Set over three floors and originally used as a mill, Halls Mill has been wonderfully converted, maintaining many of the original mill features, providing a character holiday home for couples and families. Head through the front door into a small hallway where you can leave your shoes and coats. Continue through to the kitchen/diner and you’ll immediately notice the original mill features spanning over the floors, whilst the basic kitchen amenities come in handy for home-cooking. Climb to the first floor and put your feet up in the sitting area, complete with a sofa, TV and woodburning stove, set amidst more historic features. The bedrooms are situated on the second floor, offering a twin bed leading through to a double bedroom with original mill wheel, plus there is a cloakroom on this level. Escape outside and enjoy the peaceful countryside setting and gaze over at the sheep on the farm. Within the village of Huntington there is a traditional pub, The Swan, where you can reward yourself with a pint after a country ramble (the pub has variable opening hours). Hop in the car and head to Whitney-On-Wye, set on the bank of the River Wye, with a convenience store and welcoming pubs. Nearby, the delightful village of Weobley is part of Herefordshire's famous Black & White Village Trail. It lies off the main route retaining its village atmosphere and boasts many early 16th century black and white cottages, two pubs, an excellent restaurant (Jules) and a village shop. Head to the bustling market town of Hay on Wye, known for its bookshops, celebrated festival and the recently restored Hay Castle, before taking a wander up to the delightful landmark of Hay Bluff along Offa’s Dyke Path. The market town of Brecon is further afield and serves as good starting point for exploring the National Park, where you can expect to find excellent walking, mountain biking and fishing opportunities. Choose Halls Mill for a unique stay along the England and Wales border.

Huntington is a small village resting on the border between England and Wales in the county of Herefordshire. The 13th century Huntington Castle was the defensive and administrative centre of an important manor with resident reeve or steward. Nearby lies the Small Breeds Farm Park, where nature enthusiasts can get up close and personal with a variety of adorable animals. For those seeking tranquillity and natural beauty, Hergest Croft Gardens is a true gem; spanning over 70 acres, these stunning gardens boast a diverse collection of plants, including rare and exotic species. Further afield, history enthusiasts will be enthralled by the majestic Hay Castle, a medieval fortress that has stood proudly for centuries. This impressive structure showcases a rich tapestry of architectural styles, reflecting its evolution over time.

It's beautifully renovated without loosing it's originality and history. If you want to get away from it all, this is highly recommended. The comfortable bed, the sound of the river Arrow and the privacy of the outdoor space is very relaxing. But if you want to get active there is plenty to do and see in the area. Grace is the most wonderful host and makes you feel very welcome. The week we stayed at the Halls Mill will be fondly remembered! Nigel & Verna

There are some excellent pubs and resturants in the area and places to visit. Grace and Dick are excellent hosts and we look forward to returning next year .

Owners are friendly and there if you need anything. Beautiful scenery. Sheep are entertaining. Very doggy friendly. The enclosed garden is good but we kept our dog on lead as he could get through the gaps in fence if he wanted and with sheep all around it's best too.
