Guests say

Castle Cottage in Clun, Shropshire, is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its cosy charm, convenient location for walks and local amenities, and friendly village atmosphere. The property's original features and comfortable furnishings contribute to a delightful stay, although some guests noted challenges with the road noise and the Stanley range cooker.

Guests consistently described the cottage as very clean and tidy, indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local shops, pubs, and scenic walks. However, some guests mentioned road noise and parking challenges, slightly affecting the score.

Reviews frequently mention the cottage's warmth and cosiness, comfortable beds, and a relaxing atmosphere. A few guests found the heat from the Stanley range and the road noise to be discomforting, but these were minor points.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with special mentions of the well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. Some guests experienced difficulties with the Stanley range and suggested improvements to the patio area and heating instructions.

While guests appreciated the helpfulness of the owner and the provision of local information leaflets, there is insufficient information to assess the consistency of thoughtful gestures such as gifts, and therefore a score cannot be provided.

Wonderfully charming, well equipped and a fantastic location with walks on the doorstep, a well stocked village shop and two great pubs! Loved the gorgeous bathroom for a long soak after a trek over the stunning Shropshire Hills. The owner was realy helpful and contacted me during my stay to make sure everything was OK (which it was). Just be aware that the stairs are very steep and mind your head on the kitchen door frame! Will definately book again.

Our dogs are small and elderly, so the reason we had chosen the cottage was that they could have a holiday too. As always, we had taken throws, but it was extremely stressful for us and the dogs, trying to keep them on the floor. I did call Becky after 4 days, and she was really helpful. The cooking range was the only source of hot water, which we did manage to master, but it also meant that because the weather was warm, that the heat within the cottage was unbearable when it was on. The cottage itself was beautiful, and very clean. We did feel that the neighbours were overly interested in what we were doing, and when we put the rubbish bags out as requested, we were told that it was recycling week. This was the first we knew of it, as nothing was mentioned in the manual, and there was no provision made for this. As a result, everything was bagged up together. Becky who owns the cottage was absolutely charming and extremely helpful.

I don't ubderstand how some people had trouble with the Stanley heater/cooker, as I managed to get it up and running in five minutes with the help of the detailed instructions. Yes, it's not modern, but I for one loved the temperature dial on the oven: "cool/hot/very hot"!! The owner was very prompt in responding to my texts and very helpful. The bed was almost too comfortable, and the double room was very spacious. All in all I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. Cosy, ideally located and full of character: I'll most certainly be back.
