The property is well-regarded for its facilities and the welcoming nature of the hosts, making it a popular choice for families and those seeking a rural retreat.

Reviewers consistently mention the spotless condition of the property upon arrival, highlighting the cleanliness and fresh smell. This indicates a very high standard of cleanliness maintained by the hosts.

The property's location is frequently described as peaceful and beautiful, ideal for walking and close to Shrewsbury. Its quiet village setting is appreciated, although one review mentioned agricultural traffic.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the log burner. The property's comfort is often cited as a reason for repeat visits.

The facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen and games barn, are well-received. However, there are minor comments about the lack of a freezer within the cottage and a small water heater for the ensuite.

Many guests mention the thoughtful gestures such as a welcoming homemade cake and the provision of flowers and milk. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, they are subject to availability and not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Church Stretton 7 miles.

A lovely ground floor barn conversion on a working farm, wonderfully sited in 200 acres of the owner's land, just opposite the medieval church in the pretty rural village of Stapleton. This semi-detached property still retains a wealth of features from its original use as a dairy house, such as exposed beams and an original cattle stall, which now separates the dining area from the cosy sitting area. Furnished to a high standard, the property boasts stone flagged flooring and makes an ideal romantic retreat. The amenities of Church Stretton and Shrewsbury are within easy reach, as are the rest of Shropshire's attractions and superb walking country. A lovely base at any time of year.

Church Stretton's glorious setting in a narrow valley earned it the name 'Little Switzerland' from the Victorians who tried to establish it as a spa. It has some of the most dramatic and spectacular hills in the British Isles; Long Mynd guards the West and the escarpment of Wenlock Edge lies to the East. Caer Caradoc, formed by volcanic ash and lava over 560 million years ago, once had an Iron Age hill-fort on its summit. The geology of the area is intriguing and has earned the hills acclaim as a Site of Special Scientific Interest as well as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ragleth Hill allows you to take in stunning 360 degree views, taking in the Long Mynd, Caer Caradoc, the Lawley, Wenlock Edge and the Clee Hills. Church Stretton also draws visitors for its famous 18-hole golf course, which claims to be the highest in England.

It is a lovely old place. The walls are very thin ( beyond owners control) so snoring from the bedroom next door drove me to sleep on the lounge floor. Other than that we loved it. The location is beautiful. The cottage is charming. The facilities were very good with the exception that having the freezer outside in the barn was a bit of an issue in dark, cold November nights. A small issue was quickly rectified by the owners. The cosy wood burner was fab.
