Tucked away in a countryside village, this characterful, converted barn is an excellent base for enjoying Shropshire’s national park, historical attractions and enticing market towns. With its open-plan layout boasting a wood burner and dining space plus alfresco dining options in the garden, you can ensure quality time is spent with your small family or partner, plus one canine companion.
Step inside and find yourself in the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with neutral tones throughout, a vaulted wooden-beamed ceiling and wooden furnishings. The glass-fronted lounge offers access to the garden and contains an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner which is surrounded by two plump leather sofas. On the other side of the room is a fitted ‘L’-shaped kitchen unit with wooden cabinets and sparkling black countertops. Sharing this space is a wooden dining table with four chairs. Also on the ground floor is a convenient utility room and a separate WC. Climb the stairs to reach two super-king-size zip-and-link bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms – both can be made into twin rooms on request. Outside, you’ll find a relaxed patio area with furniture.
While staying in the village of Ryton, you can pop to the neighbouring Dorrington village (1 mile) for a meal out or to pick up essentials. Head north to reach the historic market town of Shrewsbury (7 miles) to find a wider selection of eateries, a mediaeval abbey and a dog-friendly flower-filled 29-acre garden. Pack a picnic and spend a day exploring the Shropshire Hills National Landscape (5 miles) to discover scenic views from The Lawley (5.5 miles), walking trails through Rectory Wood (7.5 miles) and a donkey park in Picklescott (4 miles). Also nearby is the 18th-century National Trust Attingham Park Estate (6.5 miles).
