About this property

Immerse yourselves in the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales when you stay at this stone retreat that was once a chapel. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway nestles in the village of Starbotton in Upper Wharfedale. Welcoming a canine companion too, the single-storey holiday home nestles in beautiful, enclosed gardens where you can bask in the sunshine and gaze out across the rolling hills of your surroundings.

Shuffle off your wellies and dry damp paws before entering the inviting conversion and making yourselves at home. Wander into the large lounge/diner, with its stone chimney breast, to sit back and relax after your exhilarating country walks. Find a film to enjoy later on the Smart TV and set the table ready for dinner. Make your way through to the bright kitchen to brew cups of Yorkshire tea, pour chilled glasses of wine and start chopping and peeling ready to begin cooking. Three steps down from the kitchen, there is a WC and a useful cloakroom. At the end of each fun-filled day away in Yorkshire, wander through to one of the two bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, to enjoy a superb night’s sleep. There is also a family bathroom close by. Spend summer afternoons out in the gorgeous garden, cooking lunch on the BBQ and simply soaking up the scenery.

Pack a picnic and head 12 miles from the cottage to enjoy a walk along the shores of Malham Tarn, a beautiful, glacial lake. Malham Cove, 15 miles away, an amphitheatre-shaped, limestone formation is also worth seeing. Wander through the ravine of Gordale Scar, 17 miles away, and follow a route that will also take you past the pretty waterfall of Janet’s Foss. The famous Aysgarth Waterfalls are also within the national park, 11.5 miles from the converted chapel.

Really enjoyed our week in this clean and comfortable cottage. We felt welcome and there was thoughtful provision for the dog. Plenty of walking close by and an excellent pub just round the corner. We would certainly stay again.
