Guests generally appreciate the well-maintained, comfortable cottage in a fabulous location with beautiful walks and local amenities. The property is praised for its cleanliness, modern kitchen, and cosy atmosphere. Some minor issues with facilities and maintenance are noted, but the overall experience is positive with many expressing a desire to return.
The property is consistently described as spotless and very clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness. One minor observation about cobwebs on dining area windows suggests room for improvement.
The location is frequently highlighted as wonderful, with beautiful walks, good pubs, and a fabulous setting. The proximity to amenities and scenic views contribute to a high rating.
The cottage is often referred to as comfortable and cosy, with a warm atmosphere. However, a few guests mentioned issues with the heating and a less comfortable mattress, slightly lowering the score.
While the modern kitchen and overall equipment receive praise, several reviews mention the lack of a washing machine and issues with the TV and radio. The garden's accessibility and furniture are also points of contention.
There is a mention of a welcome pack which suggests thoughtfulness, but as there are no consistent references to gifts or special touches across multiple reviews, it is not possible to accurately score this category.
Tucked away in a peaceful cul-de-sac on the outskirts of the pretty village of Buckden rests this charming stone-built terraced cottage, 2 Dalegarth. Nestled alongside the tranquil waters of the brook and amongst the rolling meadows and woodlands of Yorkshires Upper Wharfedale Valley, 2 Dalegarth provides an idyllic base in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, perfect for families and friends looking to tour this picturesque area. Boasting a quirky upside down layout, the first floor of this lovely dwelling houses a well-equipped kitchen where you can utilise the range of modern amenities provided to whip up delicious home-cooked meals before serving the fruits of your labour at the dining table in the nearby living/dining room. Settle down for the evening with a sumptuous seat on the sofa, flicking on the television to enjoy a movie marathon with your loved ones whilst the glow of the electric fire gently warms the room, or venture outdoors and soak in the last of the evening sun with a crisp glass of wine as your canine companion stretches their legs in the peaceful setting of your very own garden. When sleep calls, choose to snuggle up under the covers in the double bedroom, or retire to the light and airy twin bedroom, conveniently nestled on the ground floor and ideal for guests with limited mobility. Servicing the property is the family bathroom, complete with both a bath and overhead shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for the day ahead. Resting a stone's throw away from the heart of Buckden, a short stroll will bring you to a handful of local amenities, including the traditional country pub, The Buck Inn, with views from the beer garden overlooking the valley, providing the perfect setting for an evening tipple following a day of adventure. There's a plethora of walking trails available from your doorstep, with the idyllic circular loop passing through Rakes Wood to the peaceful hamlet of Cray, where you can marvel at the tumbling waterfalls and deep pools en route. For a more challenging route, tackle the climb to the summit of Buckden Pike as it towers over 700 metres, offering panoramic views across the scenic landscape of North Yorkshire from the top. Jump in the car and venture further afield to the market town of Grassington, where you can immerse yourself in the fascinating local history at Grassington Folk Museum or savour fresh fish and chips with a scenic stroll along the banks of the River Wharfe. Next stop is Skipton, where you can test your swing with a round of golf at the 18-hole course, explore the medieval dungeons of Skipton Castle, dating back to the 12th century, or pick up a keepsake to remind you of your wonderful staycation at Craven Court Shopping Centre. For a homely base in a fantastic location, choose 2 Dalegarth.
The cottage is surrounded by well kept and maintained gardens to the front and rear and there is a communal green area opposite the front of the cottage as you enter the cul-de-sac. The cottage garden at the rear should be accessed through the garage, which is where the garden furniture is stored. The rear garden is open-plan with the neighbouring properties (for ease of maintenance) and it leads down to a pretty stream. However, it should be noted that the area
is unfenced and therefore children should be supervised at all times and dogs kept on a lead. The lawns and gardens opposite the front of the cottage are communal grounds and used by other residents, including children, within the cul-de-sac. With everybody's health in mind, visitors and occupants are asked to keep pets away from this area to ensure that it remains a safe and clean space to enjoy. In addition, in order to keep all the gardens around the cottage safe and hygienic, we ask guests not to allow dogs to foul on any of the grassy areas to the front and rear of the cottage. (Should an
'accident' occur, guests should ensure all mess is cleared up immediately and disposed of properly).
Idyllically positioned at the foot of Buckden Pike and close to the head of Upper Wharefdale rests the attractive village of Buckden. Decorated in stone-built cottages and home to a village green nestled at it's centre, Buckden plays host to a traditional inn and a well-stocked convenience store, making the ideal base for outdoor adventurers looking to explore the scenic surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

A couple of early niggles were quickly sorted with the owner and we had a lovely time overall, despite the weather! The beds downstairs were really comfortable as were the sofas and the welcome pack was much appreciated - thank you!
Elizabeth
Spotless through out with the exception of the dining area windows which had cobwebs and letters drawn in the dirt !
Pat
