Guests say

Guests generally appreciate the well-maintained, comfortable, and spacious cottage in a fabulous location with beautiful walks and local pubs. The property is praised for its cleanliness, modern kitchen, and the warm and cosy atmosphere. Some guests noted areas for improvement in facilities and maintenance, but overall experiences were positive with many looking forward to returning.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage received high praise for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it was 'spotlessly clean' upon arrival, contributing to a welcoming and comfortable stay.

The location is described as wonderful, with beautiful walks right from the doorstep and lovely pubs within walking distance, making it an ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

The cottage is generally found to be very comfortable, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. However, a few guests mentioned that the mattress and seating could be improved for enhanced comfort.

The property boasts a modern and well-equipped kitchen, but some guests noted the absence of a washing machine and issues with the TV and heating. There were also minor comments on the need for cosmetic updates and better outdoor seating.

While guests have mentioned a lovely welcome pack, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful gestures such as gifts to accurately assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null, and guests should note that such amenities are subject to change and not guaranteed.

About this property

Tucked away in a peaceful cul-de-sac on the outskirts of the pretty village of Buckden rests this charming stone-built terraced cottage, 2 Dalegarth. Nestled alongside the tranquil waters of the brook and amongst the rolling meadows and woodlands of Yorkshires Upper Wharfedale Valley, 2 Dalegarth provides an idyllic base in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, perfect for families and friends looking to tour this picturesque area. Boasting a quirky upside down layout, the first floor of this lovely dwelling houses a well-equipped kitchen where you can utilise the range of modern amenities provided to whip up delicious home-cooked meals before serving the fruits of your labour at the dining table in the nearby living/dining room. Settle down for the evening with a sumptuous seat on the sofa, flicking on the television to enjoy a movie marathon with your loved ones whilst the glow of the electric fire gently warms the room, or venture outdoors and soak in the last of the evening sun with a crisp glass of wine as your canine companion stretches their legs in the peaceful setting of your very own garden. When sleep calls, choose to snuggle up under the covers in the double bedroom, or retire to the light and airy twin bedroom, conveniently nestled on the ground floor and ideal for guests with limited mobility. Servicing the property is the family bathroom, complete with both a bath and overhead shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for the day ahead. Resting a stone's throw away from the heart of Buckden, a short stroll will bring you to a handful of local amenities, including the traditional country pub, The Buck Inn, with views from the beer garden overlooking the valley, providing the perfect setting for an evening tipple following a day of adventure. There's a plethora of walking trails available from your doorstep, with the idyllic circular loop passing through Rakes Wood to the peaceful hamlet of Cray, where you can marvel at the tumbling waterfalls and deep pools en route. For a more challenging route, tackle the climb to the summit of Buckden Pike as it towers over 700 metres, offering panoramic views across the scenic landscape of North Yorkshire from the top. Jump in the car and venture further afield to the market town of Grassington, where you can immerse yourself in the fascinating local history at Grassington Folk Museum or savour fresh fish and chips with a scenic stroll along the banks of the River Wharfe. Next stop is Skipton, where you can test your swing with a round of golf at the 18-hole course, explore the medieval dungeons of Skipton Castle, dating back to the 12th century, or pick up a keepsake to remind you of your wonderful staycation at Craven Court Shopping Centre. For a homely base in a fantastic location, choose 2 Dalegarth.

The cottage is surrounded by well kept and maintained gardens to the front and rear and there is a communal green area opposite the front of the cottage as you enter the cul-de-sac. The cottage garden at the rear should be accessed through the garage, which is where the garden furniture is stored. The rear garden is open-plan with the neighbouring properties (for ease of maintenance) and it leads down to a pretty stream. However, it should be noted that the area

is unfenced and therefore children should be supervised at all times and dogs kept on a lead. The lawns and gardens opposite the front of the cottage are communal grounds and used by other residents, including children, within the cul-de-sac. With everybody's health in mind, visitors and occupants are asked to keep pets away from this area to ensure that it remains a safe and clean space to enjoy. In addition, in order to keep all the gardens around the cottage safe and hygienic, we ask guests not to allow dogs to foul on any of the grassy areas to the front and rear of the cottage. (Should an

'accident' occur, guests should ensure all mess is cleared up immediately and disposed of properly).

Idyllically positioned at the foot of Buckden Pike and close to the head of Upper Wharefdale rests the attractive village of Buckden. Decorated in stone-built cottages and home to a village green nestled at it's centre, Buckden plays host to a traditional inn and a well-stocked convenience store, making the ideal base for outdoor adventurers looking to explore the scenic surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Well appointed and a lovely welcome pack. An ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales

Two small points:- 1. Would have liked a coffee machine in kitchen. 2. Didn't know/couldn't find the Sky code & therefore unable to see recordings of programmes after 9.00pm. The garden was a big disappointment. No direct access, only via front door & through garage. Not easy with a keen dog early in am. Also very small, no view & shared with neighbours. Plastic furniture stored in garage.

It was warm and cosy, well equipped with everything. The views are amazing from the windows. You have 20 pheasants as neighbours! The Buck Pub is 200 yarda away, great food. We will be booking again, we had the best time.
