A pleasant 15 minute stroll takes you into the town for shopping or visiting the fabulous Pickering station to watch the steam trains come and go. These’s a lovely 2 mile virtually traffic free walk through the stunning country side from the very end of the road which is ideal for walking the dog. Goathland and Whitby are about a half hour drive away or there is the scenic route across the moors with spectacular views and a couple of stopping off points where you can park up and go for a walk. The bungalow is spacious, the kitchen has everything you need apart from maybe a bread bin, the beds comfortable and the welcome basket was excellent. We had a single rainy day so spent a few happy hours in the comfort of the summer house. We did have a puncture up on the moors but the garage on the local trading estate just around the corner were very helpful and had the tyre repaired in no time. The fish and chip shop in the town do some excellent food, it gets quite busy but well worth the wait and as its in walking distance no need to try to park, definitely recommended. Kirbymoorside is a short drive to the West, Thornton Le Dale an even shorter drive to the East. There is a convenience store within the local petrol station which is a few hundred yards away on the main road which is useful for bits and bobs. We will definitely be staying here again in the not too distant future.
