Staithes, a sleepy seaside town with cobbled streets and back alleys, is a photographer's and artist's paradise. On three sides, the town is hemmed in by steep cliffs, with a secluded sandy beach tucked between the jagged rocks of the coastline. Captain Cook was apprenticed to a draper in the area, and the village has ties to him. The town of Staithes, on the Yorkshire Coast, is a must-see for anyone visiting the area, thanks to its many pubs, shops, and tea rooms, among other things. A lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) are still in operation in Staithes, and boat trips for birdwatching as well as fishing and whale-watching are also offered. Old Jack's Boat, a popular BBC children's television series, is filmed there. In Staithes, art and heritage festivals, galleries and artists studios, as well as regular art courses and workshops are all available. It's possible to rent trail guides for the Illusion Trail, which takes visitors through the city's maze of alleys and back alleys. It's best to see the town from the cliff's edge on the Cleveland Way, a path that descends to the water's edge. From here you can take day trips to the Yorkshire Coast, Whitby and Scarborough, and the North York Moors National Park's hill towns.

It was clean on arrival and beds and bedrooms were comfortable however some bedrooms do not have wardrobes and there were not enough coat hangers.well equipped kitchen for our needs large fridge and freezer with washing machine.the lounge diner was spacious with plenty of seating though sparsely furnished . The dining table was a great size. The TV’s in the main lounge and bedrooms do not have a signal and could do with updating to smart TV so guests can log into their streaming services ( we brought a fire stick) there isn’t a dryer so clothes are difficult to get dry particularly after a very soggy start to the week .There is a small pleasant garden area but no garden furniture and needs mowing so even when the sun appeared we couldn’t use it . Parking was not an issue for two cars but the area shown in the photos is a difficult manoeuvre on a busy road .we appreciated the welcome pack of home made bread and scones coffee & crisps. We had a fab week in a beautiful part of the country.

10pm and still being cleaned. One bedroom unavailable as no mattress on bed. No fuel for log burner, brought later on first day. We have reported this to Sykes properties and there has been no response from the owners of the property which I find totally unprofessional. This is a statement on Sykes site ‘We pass on all our guests feedback to our owners and work closely with them in order to resolve any problems’ Sykes are yet to get a response from the owners of the property.
