Guests say

Ebor House in Staithes is a well-received cottage, praised for its quiet seaside charm, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome treats and find the location ideal, with easy access via alternative paths. Despite some concerns over plumbing and parking, the cosy atmosphere and stunning locale make it a recommended stay.

The cottage is consistently described as very clean, with multiple guests noting its cleanliness. However, without more detailed reviews focusing on this aspect, a perfect score cannot be justified.

The location is generally praised for its beauty and convenience, though some guests mention difficulty with parking and accessibility due to current works on the path. The village's charm adds to the location's appeal.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy, although one review suggests the downstairs area might be slightly cramped for larger groups or in inclement weather.

Facilities are well-regarded, with mentions of a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable furniture. However, there are comments about plumbing issues, indicating some maintenance is required.

While guests have mentioned receiving welcome treats such as cake, biscuits, and prosecco, there are not enough reviews to accurately score thoughtfulness, and it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.

About this property

Enjoying an elevated location overlooking the quaint fishing village of Staithes, this charming cottage provides cosy accommodation for couples and smaller families eager to discover a spellbinding part of North Yorkshire. With ample space for up to four guests, the property has been beautifully decorated and furnished, to make a lovely getaway for walkers, beach lovers and nature spotters seeking a quiet coastal retreat. Once owned by the artist Laura Knight, this thoughtfully updated bolthole occupies three floors and has a welcoming wood burner, wooden panelling and feature fireplaces, with far-reaching views over the village and towards the sea.

Stepping inside this cheery, friendly cottage, the cosy lounge has a wood burner in a brick surround, alongside wooden panels, a Smart TV and comfortable seating, making this an ideal space for everyone to get together and relax after a memorable day out. The ground floor also offers a country-style kitchen/diner perfect for preparing and sharing your favourite dishes. There are two fresh, cheerful bedrooms. The first is on the first floor, where you will also find the spacious bathroom, both with stylish ornamental fireplaces. The other bedroom is on the second floor, with a feature fireplace and a skylight in the low sloping ceiling offering views over the village. Outside, the back courtyard has a seating area perfect for a morning coffee, alongside a handy outbuilding with laundry facilities.

There are several grassy locations in this part of Staithes, with benches where you can sit and gaze over the harbour out to sea. Captain Cook was apprenticed to a grocer’s in Staithes, and the village has an array of shops, cafes and galleries.
