Later, step into the fully-equipped kitchen where you can rustle up delicious meals that the whole group can enjoy at the dining table; on sunny evenings why not head outside to enjoy the meal alfresco with stunning views of the breath-taking castle. When the evening draws to a close wash off the day’s adventures in either of the shower rooms on the first floor or the remaining one on the second before catching up on some much needed sleep in one of four bedrooms; there is a double, a second-floor double, a third floor bunk and a second-floor double with single over. 16 St Sepulchre Street lies moments away from local stores where you can stock up on your self-catering essentials and pubs including the The Scarborough Arms and The Courtyard which serve delicious food; perfect for when you need a break from the kitchen. The golden shores of South Bay beach are also a stone’s throw away, while away sunny days here admiring the uninterrupted views of the North Sea while the kids splash around or on rainy days head for a day of fun at Alpamare UK water park. Immerse yourself in the town’s past at the ruins of the medieval Scarborough Castle or venture further afield to visit the iconic town of Whitby where you can climb the challenging 199 steps to reach the picturesque Whitby Abbey before sampling their world-famous fish and chips. Make memories at 16 St Sepulchre Street.

Scarborough has been a popular tourist destination since the Victorian era, and the town has kept many of its historic landmarks, including its castle and beautiful parks and gardens. Both North Bay and South Bay include excellent lengths of fine, golden sand that are loved by families with young children. Visitor hotspots including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa, and Scarborough Open Air Theatre provide world-class performances and are suitable for all ages, including families with young children. Scarborough is a fantastic place to enjoy the outdoors, since it is home to a number of golf courses, wonderful coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle paths like the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing, and championship-caliber surfing. Scarborough is the perfect holiday destination since it has everything a visitor could want, from the typical coastal attractions to lively promenades just steps from the shore. Scarborough is a great place to base a holiday because of its proximity to the shore and the moors.

Pete is a fantastic host and can’t do enough for you; we had one or two little hiccups which were sorted as soon as he could manage. The beds are wonderful and so comfy, the rooms are well set out (normally we rearrange things to suit us, but not this time) with everything to hand. Practically on the Market Hall doorstep, we got our meat, veg and bread there and only a short walk to a bus stop. Downhill walk on to the promenade means an uphill walk back, but that’s everywhere in Scarborough. All in all, a fabulous holiday and we hope to be going back soon.
