Guests say

Sail Lodge in Scarborough offers a convenient location with most amenities within walking distance, including beaches and parks. The property is appreciated for its ample space, numerous bathrooms, and a hot tub, making it suitable for large groups. However, there are mixed feelings about its upkeep and cleanliness.

Several reviews mention poor cleanliness, with reports of mould, dirt, and a general need for a deep clean. These issues significantly impact the score, despite some positive comments.

The location is consistently praised for its proximity to local attractions, beaches, and parks, making it an ideal spot for visitors looking to explore the area on foot.

There is insufficient information to accurately assess comfort as the reviews do not provide enough detail on this aspect.

Facilities like a hot tub, washing machine, and well-resourced kitchen are positively noted. However, maintenance issues such as broken toilet seats and leaks detract from the overall experience.

No reviews mention gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner, so this category cannot be scored.

The house was fantastic, location superb, exactly as advertised. The owner kept in touch with us from start to finish and we were well looked after. Would definitely use this company again

As soon as we reached the front gate we were greeted by weeds and unusable dirty garden furniture. Venture inside where you are struck by the strongest smell of damp and stale air. The main living area is cramped, dark and dingy. The basement "living space" is completely uninhabitable with low ceilings, the most awful stale damp smell and just a horrible place to be. The shower did not work down here and the steep access stairs should come with a warning! The outside space is grim. The further bedroom to the back reeked of damp. Lots of light bulbs not working. Sharp areas on the floors where kids could cut their feet. And l wont go into the dirt/grime under the sofas. The photos of this place are completely misleading and the downstairs should absolutely not be classed as a living space. As a asthma sufferer l would have feared for my health! Luckily we complained and l cannot fault Sykes customer service in getting us moved to a lovely alternative property. Their communication was great and felt they done everything they could to help the situation.
