Located in a quiet area of Whitby, the cottage is only a ten minute walk to the golden sandy beach and thriving waterfront scene.
On entering the property, a hallway leads to a welcoming sitting room decorated in warm, earthy tones. Exposed brickwork and real-flame effect fire create a contemporary rustic feel, whilst the chandelier, cornicing and large window add a touch of period elegance. Relax together in this cosy space after a day’s sightseeing. Smart TV/DVD included.
The dining room offers a pleasant place to enjoy a meal, and is decorated in duck egg blue with accents of copper. There is a wall-mounted Smart TV/DVD and a window seat which stores a selection of board games and DVDs - perfect for relaxed holiday entertainment. From here, enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the small rear courtyard.
A well-equipped kitchen is similarly decorated, with gorgeous wall tiles that add French-style vintage charm. There is a useful ground floor cloakroom.
To the first floor, the main house bathroom is sure to impress. It is huge! And the Victorian detailing is delightful: bottle-green wall tiles with a claw-foot roll-top bath, high WC cistern and ornate over-basin mirror. Choose from a refreshing walk-in double shower or a leisurely soak – do things your way!
Leading off the bathroom is a sumptuous master king-size bedroom – guests can be sure of a good night’s sleep in the fantastic mahogany bed with a deep mattress for extra comfort. For those who like to unwind before bed, there is a Smart TV as well as bedside reading lamps – why not borrow a book from the small library on the second floor.
Also on the second floor are a double bedroom with a charming nautical theme décor and a king-size double with en-suite shower room and TV, the latter boasts a fabulous long-range view of Whitby Abbey.
A flagged rear small enclosed courtyard garden provides a welcome spot to relax and take in the sea air.
There’s so much to see and do, for all ages, in Whitby. Kids will enjoy crabbing in the harbour or a day at the beach, perhaps boogie boarding or fossil hunting, followed by world-class fish and chips. Boat trips run regularly throughout the year from the nearby harbour and are a fun way to see more of the heritage coast.
Or for a magical experience, hop on board a steam locomotive across the North York Moors – the scenery is so pretty. Art-lovers should check out local artists from nearby Staithes, there’s also an annual Arts Festival in September.

Parking is tricky on street, just need a little bit of luck! Lovely well equipped property, very clean and decorated to an high standard. Fantastic for up to three couples or a large family

Unusually, there is no welcome pack, so donât forget to bring the basics of milk and such with you. We had an unfortunate start to our holiday, with a cancelled train and then torrential rain as we arrived at the property. We were unable to get in for an hour as there were two keypads and we mistakenly tried the wrong one. We tried to contact Sykes for advice and they responded twenty four hours later. We were able to get through to another company who also let the house and they told us about the second box, which we had assumed to be a security light! It would be helpful if the faulty box was removed so that other visitors do not make the same mistake. It caused us a very stressful start to our break. Surely, If booking with Sykes, you should be able to contact someone in an emergency ?

The be bathroom drains were a bit whiffy which wasn't great. The location is great for walking to town but parking is tricky. No outdoor space except for a tiny courtyard out the back so in hindsight it wasn't suitable for the dog. Lovely decor, clean and comfortable house.
