East Firwood is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its stunning views, spacious and well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable furnishings. The property's location offers direct access to woodland walks and is within walking distance to town. While some guests mentioned issues with the driveway and a desire for outdoor seating, the overall sentiment is positive, with many planning return visits.
The majority of guests found East Firwood to be spotlessly clean upon arrival, contributing to a welcoming and comfortable stay. However, a few guests noted areas where cleanliness could be improved, slightly impacting the overall impression.
The property's location is highly praised for its spectacular views over Rothesay Bay and its proximity to local amenities and woodland walks. The steep driveway was a concern for some, but the location's benefits seem to outweigh this inconvenience.
Guests consistently report that the beds and linens are very comfortable, and the house provides a warm and inviting atmosphere. Some guests noted issues with specific furnishings, but these do not detract significantly from the overall comfort of the property.
Facilities at East Firwood are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. However, there are recurring comments about the need for maintenance, such as the driveway condition, and some minor issues with furnishings and appliances that suggest room for improvement.
While many guests expressed satisfaction with the amenities provided, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.
This stunning, detached house is set in the quaint town of Rothesay on the beautiful Isle of Bute. Situated in a lovely hilltop location, the property enjoys glorious sea views and a large flourishing garden. The traditional interior has been lovingly refurbished to provide a welcoming accommodation for families and friends looking to explore this remote part of Scotland. Hearty feasts can easily be prepared in the kitchen, equipped with several integrated appliances, whilst the dining area provides ample seating so everyone can gather during mealtimes. There are two sitting rooms here, one of which has a TV, whilst both enjoy fabulous views of the sea and the passing boats. The rest of the ground floor is occupied by a utility with washer/dryer, a shower room and a twin room for added flexibility. Move upstairs to discover the four bedrooms, including two doubles and a twin, all of which are beautifully furnished and served by the family bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. Outside are magnificent gardens to explore and plenty of nearby walks through the woodlands and towards the coast. Just a mile away is the main island town of Rothesay and where you will find castle ruins, a harbour and a selection of shops, not to mention Mount Stuart House, which is a very popular attraction. To the North of Rothesay, through the small community of Port Bannatyne, lies Ettrick Bay, a lovely beach which is easily accessible and safe for swimming. If you wish to explore more of Scotland, then catch a ferry across to Glasgow and make use of the fabulous attractions and amenities. A quality accommodation on this unspoilt Scottish island. EPC Rating: Band D

The house has amazing views which is an enhancing feature, the facilities are also great with everything we needed to have a lovely stay. An area that could be considered is the living room furniture, these are a mix of a low back sofa and sofa bed which has lost most of its comfort. As this is the only lounge area the seats are uncomfortable and difficult to sit on after a long day exploring. The use of the abundant cushions helped but the sofa bed offered little comfort or stability even with cushions. Also this is a property seeking to accommodate up to 10 people which could be considered if new lounge furniture is considered. This was a beautiful place on a beautiful island, and we thank the owners for letting us share this property. Our comments are not negative but constructive and hopefully thatâs how they will be taken. Thanks again.

I felt it was expensive but just basic one toilet roll per toilet no sugar if you had put milk in fridge a packet of shortbread tea bags snd coffee That would be a nice gesture

Decor dated and damaged in places, furnished with second hand and worn furniture, main settee had no cushioning and was uncomfortable. Upstairs shower tray wouldn't drain, only used once and had to shower downstairs for remainder of week. Slight smell of damp/fusty particularly in wardrobe and downstairs bed rooms (not used, kept clothes in case). Left house cleaner that what we found, on arrival. Foodstuffs/sauces on tray on kitchen out of date. All said a peaceful week relaxing week (Have photos if requested)
