Bradan Lodge is a charming, detached lodge in Dalmally, Argyll and Bute. Situated beside a salmon fishing river and overlooking stunning Highland views, this three-bedroom property sleeps six and comes equipped with a barbecue and off-road parking for three cars, making it an ideal base for a family or group of pals and one well-behaved dog. Be welcomed into the rustic open-plan living space and shake off your adventure-stained boots to relax in front of the TV. Catch your dinner in the river that runs beside your property, then fry it on the barbecue or utilise the double oven, induction hob, and fridge/freezer in the kitchen to make a delicious meal. After tucking in at the dining table for six, let the dishwasher take care of clean-up duty. Refresh in one of two en-suite shower rooms or a ground-floor bathroom, while the washing machine in the utility freshens up your laundry. Dive into a king-size bed on either floor that waits to catch you. When you wake, walks to St Conan’s Kirk, Kilchurn Castle, and the Monument to Duncan MacLaren await at your doorstep. Hike up Ben Cruachan, explore the White Stone of the McIntyres, before grabbing a bite at the Ben Cruachan Inn. A little further afield sits Oban, the Seafood Capital of Scotland. Sample some of the locally caught fish at EE-USK, embark on a boat trip with Oban Sea Tours, climb up to McCaig’s Tower & Battery Hill, and enjoy the sun at Ganavan Sands beach. Or take a short drive to Appin and stroll the Linnhe Marina with your four-legged friend, then marvel at the Jubilee Bridge and Castle Stalker. Whatever your Highland adventures, explore them from Bradan Lodge.
The village of Dalmally, on the road between Tyndrum and Oban in Argyll and Bute, probably began life as a settlement to provide for the nearby Kilchurn Castle, established in the mid 15th century by the 1st Lord of Glenorchy, Sir Colin Campbell. Through many generations, the Campbells vied with the earls of Argyll for dominance in this region and the castle was only abandoned in the 18th century. The village of Dalmally has a shop, Post Office and a hotel as well as Glenorchy parish church, with its octagonal design. There's also a nine hole parkland golf course, set just behind the village and Loch Awe, offering a very scenic and peaceful place to practice your swing. The renowned Gaelic poet Duncan Ben MacIntyre was born in the area, and a walk up forested hills brings you to his monument, as well as spectacular views of Loch Awe and the surrounding mountains. Its location makes the village an ideal base for touring the spectacular scenery nearby. Visit Loch Awe and its ruined castle, and nearby Ben Cruachan is not only a fabulous walk but also houses the Cruachan power station, where visitors can tour the hollowed-out mountain. Oban is a short drive away with ferries to the Western Isles, or take a drive through awe-inspiring Glen Coe. Dalmally is surrounded by sublime scenery, making it a wonderful base for your next Scottish getaway.
