Pet-friendly Holidays on The Isle of Mull
At 875 square kilometres with just a couple thousand inhabitants, the Isle of Mull is an amazing place to visit if you and your furry friend love roaming in the wild countryside. Part of Argyll and Bute, with the quickest direct ferry leaving from Oban, you'll quickly find yourself nestled in untouched natural beauty.
The landscape on the Isle of Mull varies massively for such a compact place. The bulk of the inner island is rolling moorland and misty peaks. However, on the west side, you'll find dramatic cliffs and rocky shorelines, and on the east wide open spaces of lush greenery.
The Munro Ben More is centrally located on the island and there's a lovely four-hour walk to the top from Loch na Keal that's manageable for dogs.
Around the 480 kilometres of coastline, you find plenty of walks which allow you to explore beaches, coves and bays. Uisken Beach and Knockvologan Beach are some of our top picks, with Uisken having several gorgeous coves to the left.
If you're feeling more adventurous you can try the hour-and-a-half walk to Market Bay. It can be a little muddy and it's a small beach, but chances are it will be next to empty. All of these beaches are dog-friendly though you might find a few sheep lounging around by the sands.
Speaking of wildlife, there are dog-friendly boat tours where you can spot porpoises, dolphins and minke whales, as well as over 250 species of birds.
After a day of exploring nature, you'll find plenty of dog-friendly places to eat and drink across the Isle of Mull. Cafe Fish is great for seafood, and Macgochans serves home-reared meat and has dog-friendly indoor seating as well as a gorgeous beer garden overlooking the harbour.
