About this property

The town has good local facilities with shops, hotels, restaurants and a busy arts centre at the Catstrand.

The cottage is ideally located for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. There are numerous riverside and forest walks starting out and returning to the town, some from the doorstep of the cottage. With an endless variety of hill, coastal and forest walks within a short drive. New Galloway golf course is about ½ a mile from the cottage and there are numerous other courses within easy reach. If you would like more of a test or challenge the championship courses at Ayr and Southerness are within easy driving distance.

Situated on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park, Britain’s original Dark Sky Park offers plentiful opportunities for stargazing; The Forestry Commission 7Stanes Mountain Bike routes are located throughout the area with the nearest one being at Kirroughtree with trails suitable for all abilities. House was lovely, freshly decorated and very well equipped. The owners were very accommodating when we raised a complaint about the building works, and Discover Scotland were very helpful and informative with my queries.
