Bring your nearest and dearest for a memorable stay in Scotland when booking Barley Cottage.
Newton Stewart, a market town well-known for its salmon and trout fishing, is situated between the Galloway Forest Park to the north and the tranquil Machars to the south. The region is rich in history. The first church was established at Whithorn in AD 397 after the first Christian missionary to Scotland arrived at The Machars. On-site, the Whithorn Dig Visitor Center features exhibits featuring materials found throughout years of digging. Sand and rocky shoreline make up the stunning coastline, which is rich with birdlife. Inland, the Galloway Hills and Forest Park offer some of the best trekking terrain in the world. Locally, sailing, cycling, and fishing are all possible, and there are many top-notch golf courses to keep the avid player occupied.

Unfortunately we had no running hot water for 5 days. The owner was quick to respond when we reported it, but was unable to resolve it by the time of our departure.
William
Quite homely which is I find unusual for holiday accomodation. 4* because I had to take the dog out every time she needed to pee as no access from the property to garden space
Gillian
Very clean and comfortable. In a good location for travelling around the local area. Lots of provisions on arrival, e.g milk, butter, bread etc. more than in other properties we've stayed at. A very enjoyable holiday.
