We bought a roasting tin , only 1 shelf in top oven and one bottom oven and two oven trays only one frying pan . We would have liked there to be egg cups measuring jug dishwasher washing up liquid , scales , sponge , garlic crusher , and kitchen scale. only some hand soap in some of the bathrooms . Would be nice to have mirror in all bedrooms . Kitchen floor and skirting through house not clean light fitting etc . Picnic benches not suitable to use as broken and heavily peeling . Broken hall upstairs plug sock little fingers could be dangerous. Oven door swings in on you burning your arm . Knives blunt very hard to cut with . We had two stained white towels and the washing machine rubber and draw mouldy and dirty . It is a lovely big house and garden but the lack of maintenance and amenities ruined the quality of stay it is cost of living crisis and had to get takeaways a few time . The oven also smokes and no fan in kitchen sets alarm off unless open all windows and doors . Fridge a bit small for 8 people . We also slept horribly in the room on the right at top of stairs as curtains have gaps at side and let a lot of light in . Disappointed nothing to do not even one fire with or no tools to clean up a fire with or basket so that wasn’t an option . Kitchen bin was broken had to have bin liner on floor .

Unfortunately neither of the two TVs upstairs worked. With such a big garden we expected some outdoor furniture, but we were very disappointed there was absolutely none.

Furnishing is a bit tired with old stained settees that swallow you whole. Kitchen is poorly equipped no basic stores (salt & pepper, sugar, oil, etc) or supplies (cling wrap, tin foil) of any kind, not even a dish towel or new sponge for washing up (and there is no dishwasher). It wasn't much of a pleasure to use because of the woefully dull knifes, glass cutting board with no coffee maker or cafetière and inadequate pans. My advice, dine out which requires a drive to Grantown-on-Spey, Aviemore or Boat on Garden (highly recommend the pizza and Anderson or a pies at the Craig) The bathrooms are both recently furnished one with a shower (good water pressure handheld and a rain shower head) and the other with a bath (which we chose not to use because there isn't an adequate supply of hot water to fill it). Even though our stay was in June, the temperatures were chilly at night and the heating only worked upstairs (where you don't need it). It would have been nice to take the chill off in the morning but alas no. The owner was quick to respond to our inquiries but wasn't able to resolve the heating during our stay. The views are spectacular and the garden is large with plenty of room for the dog but sadly there was no outdoor furniture. The bedrooms are all good size with great views out the master which has a comfortable bed, the other rooms the beds are OK. This property is less than we have come to expect from a VRBO (perhaps Sykes has lower standards as this was our first stay in one of their properties) but for the money it's a good value base on size and location.
