Greshornish Boathouse offers a unique and memorable stay with its stunning lochside location, providing peace, tranquillity, and picturesque views. Guests appreciate the cosy and warm atmosphere, though some mention challenges with the remote location and amenities. The natural surroundings and wildlife are highlights, contributing to a special experience for those seeking an off-the-grid retreat.
The cleanliness of the boathouse receives mixed feedback. Some guests found it clean and cosy, while others noted areas that required attention, such as dog hairs on the carpet and mould in the bathroom. The presence of snail trails and dust also detracted from the overall cleanliness for some visitors.
The boathouse's location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, right on the waterfront with stunning views of the loch. It offers a peaceful retreat, although the remote setting and challenging access road are noted. The proximity to wildlife and the opportunity for quiet relaxation are consistent positives.
Comfort levels are generally well-regarded, with guests finding the property cosy and the seating comfortable. However, some guests mention issues with the bed being built against the wall, making access difficult, and the softness of the bed and pillows not suiting everyone's preferences.
Facilities at the boathouse are adequate but several guests reported maintenance issues such as a broken shower, lack of water pressure, and non-working appliances. The lack of Wi-Fi and mobile signal is also mentioned, though this may be part of the appeal for those looking to disconnect.
There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the host. Therefore, a score cannot be given in this category.

Set on the north-west of the famous Isle of Skye, the village of Dunvegan is a quirky mixture of traditional stone dwellings and modern houses. With a wide selection of shops and hotels, Dunvegan is only a mile from the thirteenth century castle home of the Clan Macleod â who are said to have had dealings with the "wee folk" at the Fairy Bridge. Also in the area - with fantastic rock forms and pinnacles - are the Cuillin Mountains, which many climbers consider some of the best in the country. The Aros Centre provides a wide variety of concerts, theatre and cinema throughout the year and is well worth a visit, whilst Portree, the island's only town boasts and excellent range of shops, restaurants and hotels, as well as a picturesque natural harbour.

The lounge is comfortably furnished and the kitchen has the basics required. We would recommend visitors come with the provisions needed for the stay as the nearest larger supermarket is 30-40 mins drive away on Portree. For us the boathouse provided us with a much needed quiet break from the pressures of daily life however we personally however it may not suit every visitor as it has no internet connectivity and is relatively remote (accessed via a single track road). We would book again to stay at the Boathouse if visiting the Isle of Skye again. Wd would recommend the Sunday lunch or a drink at the neighbouring Greshornish House Hotel (a family run house/hotel with a warm friendly welcome)

Wait on water to come thru faucets. No water pressure. So outdated. Towels were rough and hard. Furniture too low. Fold out couch mattress is terrible . Picture window is so low short people have a hard time looking out . The road to the boathouse is rough and has big potholes that could give you a flat tire , no gravel.
Stuart
The quiet and peacefulness of the location seconded to none. However as mentioned by other visitors there are a few things to note. The access road is extremely challenging with dodge the pot hole game, and beware sheep will leave droppings for the unwary very close to the entrance. A certain amount of general maintenance to the property inside and out could be improved, only very small things but does indicate future potential problems. Other things like cutlery kitchen equipment have seen better days and need updating. A Welcome pack is a nice touch even if only a small bottle of milk we have been using Sykes for many years now and stayed in a substantial amount of properties, this is the first time nothing! However looking back through the older visitors books this used to be provided here. Ladies be aware bring a hair dryer we could not find one. To finish I must say we did enjoy our stay and and the views and location excellent the lack of phone signal and wifi to us was not a problem and it does mean you have talk to each other
