The significant coastal community of Longhope is situated on the island of South Walls, one of the Orkney Islands off the northern coast of Scotland. The island of South Walls, which is joined to Hoy by the Ayre causeway and is known for its long naval history that dates to the Napoleonic Wars, is the second biggest island in the Orkney Archipelago. Originating from the Old Norse word for "long bay," Longhope's main attraction is its serene surroundings, which are set in its own peaceful seclusion. You can tour the island and visit the impressively restored lifeboat museum, which offers rich history on World Wars I and II, or you can enjoy a hearty meal and a cold beverage at one of the island's several pubs.
