The most northwestern community in the European Union is located in a region known as Ness (Port a Nis), which is made up of a number of small villages and is located on the northernmost point of the Isle of Lewis. Visitors to this isolated and serene island will want to check out the gorgeous beaches and admire the area's pristine beauty. The island is an excellent area to see wildlife, including, to name a few, otters, seals, deer, whales, and dolphins. The Guga hunting practises of the men of Ness are legendary. This custom is still practised today, and it entails capturing young gannet chicks for their meat, which is regarded as a wonderful delicacy. Even though English is commonly spoken, the people still speak Gaelic, and for the majority of residents of this region, English is a second language. Fishing was a major industry in Ness, and the town boasts a charming harbour. From here, a little road will take you even farther north to the renowned Butt of Lewis Lighthouse. Around 65 miles south of Ness, the Isles of Lewis and Harris are connected, and the entire region is a wonderful spot to explore and take in the distinctive ambiance of the enchanted Outer Hebrides.
