Guests say

Gorphwysfa is a well-loved cottage in Beaumaris, Anglesey, praised for its stunning views, peaceful location, and proximity to the beach. Guests appreciate the spacious, well-equipped kitchen, private gardens, and the unique charm of the property. While some minor issues are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only one review citing significant cleanliness issues. The majority of positive comments suggest that the property is generally kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful and peaceful setting with fabulous views and proximity to the beach. The only drawback mentioned is the steep, narrow access road, which may not suit everyone.

Guests find the property comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy lounges and comfortable beds. Some suggest minor improvements like larger rugs and non-slip mats in showers, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

The facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the modern kitchen and garden. However, some guests noted issues with maintenance such as non-working outside lights and a wood burner that couldn't be used, leading to a slightly lower score.

While some guests mentioned a welcome pack and the helpfulness of the property owner, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful touches like gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such amenities are appreciated but not guaranteed.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

! We have had the best time here, this is a beautiful house and a beautiful setting. The sunsets were amazing, as were all our trips across the island. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

It has been such a relaxing holiday, with such a peaceful place. We have enjoyed spending much time admiring the coastal views from the upper lounge. Had a week with no rain and managed to explore the island including Beaumaris (and the castle), Holyhead - lighthouses/walks in the area, including Holyhead Mountain, Amlwch, Plas Newydd (NT), Menai Bridge, as well as walks from here across the sands to Red Wharf Bay and a circular walk to the village and the coast. Would recommend George & Dragon, Beaumaris and Caffi Pen y Dref, Amlwch. Will miss the beautiful views!

Spent a week here at the beginning of November. Found the property one of the best we have stayed in. The view from the house is beautiful. The house is in such a quiet peaceful area that it helped to have a relaxing holiday. Positives for us - The view from the upstairs lounge. Comfortable seating areas and the house lends itself to different zones. Slept well due to comfortable beds and the house being quiet. Close to the beach and other walking areas. Easy to get to see many sites on Anglesey. At time of booking my wife was concerned about the narrow steep lanes mentioned, however after the first time of doing the roads it became easy and a non 4x4 car was able to drive them. Only met one other vehicle whilst on this road during our stay. We would highly recommend the property.
