Guests say

Plas is a spacious and characterful cottage in Anglesey, appreciated for its stunning views, proximity to the beach and local pub, and its ample garden space. Guests have enjoyed the property's historical charm, cosy rooms, and the thoughtful welcome tray. While some have mentioned areas in need of TLC and maintenance, the overall experience is one of comfort and enjoyment in a beautiful location.

Most guests found the property clean and well-prepared for their arrival, with particular praise for the standard of cleaning. However, a few guests encountered issues with cleanliness in specific areas such as the fridge, freezer, and settees, which slightly impacted the overall impression.

The location is highly praised for its breathtaking views, easy access to the beach, and a welcoming local pub within walking distance. The scenic surroundings and proximity to local attractions have been a highlight for many visitors.

Guests have found the beds comfortable and the house cosy, especially with the log fire. However, some have noted that the furniture and carpets are tired, and there were comments about the house being too hot or too cold at times, suggesting room for improvement in overall comfort.

The property is well-equipped for large groups, with ample space and a good layout. Nonetheless, several reviews mention maintenance issues such as non-working showers, broken appliances, and the need for cosmetic updates, indicating that the facilities could be enhanced.

Guests have expressed appreciation for the thoughtful touches, such as the welcome tray and the property's equipment. While these gestures are well-received, it is important to note that such amenities are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse rspb Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

Wall around the lawn to the rear requires some edge protection or warning of the large fall, no instruction was provided for the heating system and communication regarding any issues with the vendors was non existent other than their initial message.

There is lots to complain about! Riddled with damp, water running down interior walls, flooding kitchen when using dishwasher, downstairs shower won’t work (my disabled mum could not shower all week) windows don’t open which is a huge fire risk! Has to be illegal! Some of the taps in the bathrooms don’t work, the smell of damp is ridiculous! Urine stains on carpets just left! Floors are ridiculously filthy! My son has chronic asthma and we have had no end of asthma attacks this week due to the damp,so many so we left early! Our holiday was completely ruined. How you are happy to have this property on your books is beyond me!

There is plenty of space for a large group with the family room, TV room and quiet room. Loads of room outside and very safe for the children and the dog. The building itself is very quirky and the kids loved exploring all the rooms. They did though find the access room with a ladder to the turret, which was not very safe. There was a lovely amount of hot water so everyone could shower when they wanted. The beds were very comfortable with good quality linen. Also plenty of towels . The building itself is tired and needs some thoughtful maintenance. For example the carpet gripper at the entrance to the kitchen sticks through the worn carpet and could have hurt bare little feet if we hadn't covered with a mat. We notified Sykes that the main oven didn't work the day we arrived, although we received an acknowledgement, no action was taken while we were there.
