Guests say

Eiddwen is a characterful cottage appreciated for its cosy atmosphere, comfortable beds, and well-appointed kitchen. Its enclosed garden is a hit with pet owners, and its proximity to the beach and local amenities adds to its charm. While some guests encountered issues with parking and noted the need for updates, particularly in the bathroom, the property's overall value and location make it a favourable choice for a holiday stay.

The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests finding it tidy upon arrival. However, there are isolated complaints about specific cleaning oversights, such as glass shards on the floor and a full vacuum cleaner, which slightly lower the score.

The location is highly praised for its convenience, proximity to the beach, and local amenities like shops and pubs. The peaceful setting and availability of nearby footpaths are also appreciated. Parking challenges are noted but do not significantly detract from the overall positive perception of the location.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy and warm. However, some guests mention that the sofas are not as comfortable, and the property's older features, such as low ceilings and a tight staircase, may pose challenges for taller individuals or those with mobility issues.

The cottage is well-equipped with necessary appliances and a lovely garden. Nonetheless, guests suggest improvements in maintenance, such as addressing a non-latching bathroom window and updating the bathroom and kitchen. The presence of a well-equipped kitchen is noted, but the lack of freezer space and issues with the front door are areas for improvement.

There is insufficient information in the reviews to assess the level of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or special touches provided by the host. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

About this property

This splendid, semi-detached cottage lies within the little village of Llanon, just a gentle stroll from the picturesque Ceredigion Heritage Coast. Eiddwen is a delightful dwelling, perfect for a family or group of four eager to explore beautiful countryside and coastal delights. Enter into the snug living/dining room, where you can sink into the sumptuous sofa and tune into the Smart TV, catching up on your favourite shows or finding a favourite film. Move into the kitchen, appointed with all the neccssities required to rustle up a charming feast, which can be served at the dining table or alfresco style outside. The enclosed garden provides a lovely spot for an evening drink, before rinsing yourself off in the shower room and taking your pick out of the bedrooms, with a king-size and twin on offer. Wander down to the beach and spend all day building sandcastles and swimming in the sea, before settling down to enjoy a glorious sunset, as the sun dips below the horizon. The beautiful coastline of Cardigan Bay spans in both directions from the village of Llanon linked with Wales Coast Path and harbourside towns such as Aberaeron, five miles away and New Quay, 12 miles, with a selection of eateries, cafés and ice-cream parlours to enjoy. Head down Stryd yr Eglwys that leads to the beach and church of Llansanffraid, great for an early morning or evening walk. There’s plenty of outdoor opportunity in the area; go wildlife spotting on boat trips from New Quay, which gives you a chance of sighting the bay’s famous dolphins, sling your hook and enjoy some river and sea fishing, or test your swing at a nearby golf course. Aberystwyth is further north, a Victorian seaside resort boasting a traditional atmosphere, a sweeping promenade, funicular railway and a little steam railway that will take you to Devil’s Bridge, where you can see some beautiful cascading waterfalls. Eiddwen is a heart-warming base for a memorable Welsh getaway, whatever time of year.

Llanon is a charming village and is reputably the birthplace of the mother of St David, the patron saint of Wales. The village is a great holiday base and is within easy reach of both the regency town of Aberaeron and the University town of Aberystwyth. Visitors to this area will find a local pub and shop, a nearby pebbly beach and Cardigan Bay, with the Wales Coast Path stretching in both directions, providing idyllic walking.

I understand that this is an old property however it is need of a massive deep clean and general maintenance It has the potential to be cosy and pretty rather than dark and drab Good garden Clearer house info would be a help Parking could be a issue for certain cars

The dogs loved relaxing in the sunny garden after a day on the beach. The beds were so comfortable. Local pub was just a few minutes walk away and has great food. Will return soon

I personally loved the art work, and the chunky pine furniture, think the owner has good taste! Spiral staircase took a bit of getting used to, wouldn’t recommend to anyone elderly with balance problems though! The bed was the most comfortable that I’d slept in! The shower and cooker and microwave all worked well, didn’t use the dishwasher or washing machine. Because of the weather, we didn’t sit out in the garden much, but it was lovely when we could! Parking was a problem at first, but my husband got it down to a fine art very quickly!
