Lying in the Vale of Clwyd, six miles between Denbigh and the coastal town of Rhyl, in North Wales, St Asaph enjoys a strategic location overlooking the rivers Clwyd and Elwy. The city offers delightful riverside parkland and a children’s play area with picturesque river walks where you may see kingfishers, sparrow hawks and buzzards. St Asaph is home to a historic cathedral, dating back 1400 years in areas and holding the reputation of being the smallest, ancient cathedral in Britain. It had everything we needed for our stay. The decor and furnishings were in keeping with the style of the property. Arrival instructions really clear. We made use of the lovely log burner and the hot tub was very relaxing with the only sound being the birds and the horses nearby. We would definitely want to return to Gamekeepers cottage to explore more of the area.

Just a few issues we found. No bin bags, washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets. The cottage needed a good clean as the bathroom was dirty, cobwebs everywhere throughout the cabin. A loud noise of rats running in the eaves of the cottage kept us up at nighttime. They couldnât get in the cabin but you can hear them in the loft and eaves.

Disappointed the âenclosed gardenâ was just decking for hot tub. No grass available for dog to run. Looking at pic 23 on site looks like grass in distance but this belongs to next door and gate is locked. No washing machine as advertised Small âking sized bedâ Hot tub grand. No where to hang damp towels. Position of cottage means decking in permanent shade. Nice and quiet.
