About this property

Yr Encil is a charming holiday home boasting stunning mountain views in the quaint village of Trefor, Gwynedd. With private driveway parking for one car and welcoming one well-behaved pet, this delightful retreat is perfect for friends and families seeking a serene escape amidst breathtaking natural beauty. Upon entering the property, you will be greeted by a spacious kitchen, fully equipped with everything the chef of the group needs to prepare delicious meals throughout your stay. Continue through to the living/dining room, where you can enjoy your culinary creations at the dining table, before settling down on the inviting seating to watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV. On chillier evenings, light the woodburning stove and enjoy a warm night in. When it's time to retire for the evening, head upstairs to the two well-presented bedrooms. Choose between the super-king-size room, which can be made into a twin on request, or the twin room, which can also be converted into a king-size. Both rooms offer flexible sleeping arrangements to suit your needs during your stay. Outside, the enclosed front garden provides a safe space for your four-legged friend to roam, while you enjoy a morning coffee or an evening drink on the patio or on the terrace by the river, taking in the peaceful surroundings and the gorgeous display of flowers. Outside, the garden furniture provides a perfect spot for alfresco dining or simply relaxing with a good book. Start your journey by visiting nearby Bangor, home to the Garth Pier, the second longest in Wales, and the Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre boasting a theatre, cinema, restaurant and bar. Continue exploring the local area or take to the greens at the Clwb Golff Nefyn Golf Club for a leisurely afternoon in the breeze. Peek into the past by visiting the captivating Amgueddfa Forwrol Llŷn Maritime Museum, before dining at the inviting Y Bryncynan in Morfa Nefyn, serving hearty, authentic Welsh dishes. Head further afield to Porthmadog and board the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways for an unforgettable scenic journey. Be sure to visit the Maritime Museum, filled with nautical history, and end an exciting day out with an intimate encounter with llamas in the awe-inspiring Black Rock Llamas. Make lasting memories together with a wonderful stay at Yr Encil.

The small village of Trefor is surrounded by sea and mountains, overlooking Caernarfon Bay, and enjoys a harbour with stone breakwater pier and sheltered sandy beach that the Wales Coastal Path runs past, or the more adventurous can enjoy a regular surf outside the breakwater. The village benefits from a convenience store, Post Office and licensed social club. Nearby, in the village of Llithfaen, are the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre and restaurant. The pretty coastal town of Nefyn lies 7.5 miles away, sitting atop sweeping cliffs, and is home to a fine, two-mile stretch of sandy beach, along with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and the award-winning golf club is popular with families and couples alike. Trefor is also within reach of the amenities of the popular towns of Pwllheli, Abersoch, Caernarfon, Portmeirion and Bangor. The coastline around this region is dotted with castles and coves, while fishing, sailing and watersports are all available. The start of the Snowdonia National Park is 5 miles away, with its dramatic scenery and abundance of superb walks. With its proximity to such a wide range of destinations, this area makes a superb base for a break in North Wales.

This is a beautiful cottage in an equally beautiful location. The private garden with its river at the bottom is a lovely place to sit. The cottage was cosy, clean and had everything that you would need for it to be a ‘home from home’. Esther and Peter have provided a perfect little get away. You don’t have to travel far from the cottage to enjoy the areas history and views. Thank you for letting us stay. We will be recommending to friends and family and would certainly enjoy a return visit
