Enjoy a complete escape from the everyday – this secluded stone cottage offers wonderful walks from the doorstep, far-reaching views of the Monmouthshire countryside and period features infused with luxury modern touches. Complete with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the property is perfect for a party of four, while the enclosed garden adds peace of mind for pet owners.
Step off the beaten track with a stay at this super-peaceful property – set in an area teeming with natural beauty, it’s the perfect bolthole for a break with family or friends and a couple of four-pawed pals. Step inside and the cottage’s heritage is clear – the dining area has exposed oak beams, an original range and stone flagged floor, while underfloor heating ensures warmth at any time of year. Contemporary furnishings complement the wood burner in the lounge, where a TV and DVD offer home-style evening entertainment. And when you’re feeling peckish, a few steps lead to a sleek kitchen and a separate utility room, each equipped with all the essentials for an effortless stay. A family bathroom is located downstairs; while upstairs are two blissful bedrooms, each with countryside views: the master king-size has its own en-suite shower room and the second bedroom has twin beds. Outside, the rear garden is fully fenced and has a BBQ, firepit and outdoor seating – a beautiful spot for the dogs to romp while you enjoy the sunshine.
Set off for fabulous walks from your doorstep, including the Gloucestershire Way and Offa’s Dyke Path, or for a change of terrain you could visit Tintern Abbey (8.5 miles). Chepstow (8 miles) is steeped in history; explore the castle or sample the many restaurants, pubs and shops in town. Six miles in the opposite direction, Usk sits on one of the finest salmon fishing rivers in the country and is home to an 11th-century castle.
