Guests say

Dill Cottage is praised for its excellent location, dog-friendly amenities, and thoughtful welcome packs. While some guests found the property cosy and well-equipped, others noted areas needing improvement, particularly in comfort and maintenance. The garden and views are highlights, contributing to a peaceful stay.

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage clean and others noting it could benefit from a more thorough cleaning, particularly under beds and furniture. Dust and pet hairs were mentioned, suggesting inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to beaches and coastal paths, and beautiful views. It is considered a good base for exploring South Wales, despite some comments about the distance to local amenities.

Guests are divided on comfort; some found the beds and sofas uncomfortable and in need of replacement, while others were pleased with the recent updates to furniture. The garden's safety for pets was appreciated, but comfort levels within the cottage received mixed reviews.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage described as well-equipped. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as problems with the boiler, showers, and TV. The garden and dog-friendly features are positives, but some appliances and fixtures require attention.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is evident in the welcome packs and dog amenities, which many guests appreciated. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may vary, and are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

This is a comfortable, dog friendly, modern cottage, situated in the small coastal hamlet of Penycwm, a mile from Newgale and its popular surfer’s beach and three miles from Solva and its picturesque harbour.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a three minute walk from the cottage. Alternatively, the seasonal coastal shuttle bus or the regular service bus can be caught at the end of the road.

The magnificent beach at Newgale and its’ almost two miles of sand, is perfect for the whole family. It is ideal for long walks, swimming and surfing.

Within a short drive are the beaches of Broad Haven and Little Haven and the city of St Davids, where boat trips to Ramsey and Skomer islands can be booked. The county town of Haverfordwest is also within easy reach.

The scattered village of Newgale in Pembrokeshire is pretty much as close to the beach as you can get. There is a well stocked shop, a pub and a cafe serving a variety of foods while you relax and take in the breathtaking sea views. This is a surfers paradise all year round, while families will love the 2-mile long stretch of sandy beach, and with direct access to the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Path, this is a dream location for walkers and bird watchers. The cyclists in your party will enjoy the nearby cycle path, while others may enjoy the majestic St. Davids Cathedral in the "smallest city" in Wales, the array of beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches or a day of thrills and spills at Oakwood Theme Park. However the TV did not work and we had to contact the help number for assistance. The matter was sorted out the following day. We also had trouble getting the cooker hob to work and there were no instructions. Again we called the helpline and a maintenance visit was promised the following day. We later worked out how it worked and called the helpline again to cancel the maintenance visit. We went out for the day and on our return found that the hob had been replaced but no instructions had been left! The Google search gave us the info for this one so we were able to work it out. No cleaning materials provided as advertised so we had to go out and buy. Some cleanliness issues such as a very dusty bed headboard and a noticeable drain smell from the kitchen sink. This place has great potential but is let down by some maintenance and cleanliness issues. A bit of tlc would also help.

An exceptionally well equipped kitchen. Lovely to stay in a dog friendly cottage where the dogs really were welcome.A lovely welcome pack too. The directions for finding Dill Cottage were outstanding, even down to the description of the low wall that edged the drive. Exceptionally well thought through and very much appreciated. The ideal place to stay for walking the lovely Pembroke coast path.
