Goldcrest is a well-received holiday cottage in Newport, praised for its cleanliness, peaceful location, and comfortable amenities. Guests appreciate the proximity to town and coastal paths, the well-equipped and spacious bungalow, and the thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and a welcome bottle of wine. The garden and its stream add to the relaxing ambience, although a few maintenance issues were noted.
The property consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning the exceptional standard. However, a single mention of dog waste in the garden slightly impacts the otherwise perfect record.
The location is highly praised for its quiet setting, proximity to the town, beaches, and coastal paths, making it an ideal base for exploring South Wales & Pembrokeshire.
Guests find the bungalow comfortable, with spacious rooms and a cosy atmosphere. Some guests mentioned the beds being hard, but this seems to be a matter of personal preference rather than a widespread issue.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and secure garden. Some minor issues with appliances and garden maintenance were mentioned, but these do not seem to detract significantly from the overall experience.
The owners' thoughtfulness is frequently highlighted, with mentions of welcome gifts such as wine and cheese straws. While these gestures are warmly received, it is noted that such gifts are gestures of goodwill and not guaranteed.
This welcoming two bedroom bungalow has private and spacious gardens and is located at the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac near the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The seaside town of Newport/Trefdraeth has Carningli Mountain (The Mount of Angels), the medieval church and beautiful, privately-owned castle as a backdrop. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is less than 5 minutes' walk away at the Iron Bridge on the upper reaches of the river Nevern estuary where many different varieties of wading birds are spotted daily. Goldcrest is just a few minutes' walk from a butcher, baker, deli, general store and a selection of welcoming pubs and restaurants serving excellent food. Also within walking distance of the cottage is Parrog beach and Traeth Mawr - the 'big beach' which is a 20-minute walk along the coast path (or 3 miles by road) and offers a mile and a half of silver sand with rock pools, dunes and cliffs, backed by the 18-hole links golf course. This cottage is perfect for a couple or a small family at any time of the year.
Newport is a beautiful coastal town in Pembrokeshire, south west Wales lying on the River Nevern with a selection of shops, pubs, tea rooms, plus an excellent golf course overlooking the sea as well as a lovely sheltered harbour. Newport lies on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path which is renowned worldwide for its unique landscape and wonderful opportunities to go dolphin and seal spotting. Wonderful coastal walks along the path or in the nearby Preseli Hills with the ever changing scenery are a walkers dream all year round. Learn about history when you visit the mills, craft centres and castles dotted around the county or spend a day at the wonderful Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort where you can learn hands on all about living during that time. See the majestic Shire Horses at the Shire Horse Farm or spend relaxing days on the huge choice of beautiful sandy beaches. All year round this is a perfect location for all the family.
