Heading up the traditional wooden staircase, there’s a lovely, tiled family bathroom and three pretty bedrooms: a handsome double room leads through to a cosy single, with a further single overlooking the garden. Please note the bedrooms have low, sloping ceilings and exposed wooden beams. Outside, a few steps lead up into the beautiful garden, with a stream running through a deep dingle. With outdoor seating and a dining table, mature trees, shrubs, and a large sloping lawn backing onto a vast forest, the garden offers glorious views of the surrounding countryside.

Hay-on-Wye (2 miles) is known for its numerous bookshops and its international literature festival, along with a wealth of fabulous pubs, cafes, and restaurants. Hire a canoe and take a trip along the River Wye, or you can head directly south into the Brecon Beacons National Park. There’s a wealth of historic local attractions to discover including Craswall Priory, Arthur’s Stone, Snodhill Castle, The Begwyns and Llewelyn’s Cave, all within 13 miles.
