Rhayader 11 miles. Nanthir is a beautifully styled property set in its own grounds within the hamlet of Davids Well, Powys. Enjoying a rural setting in the heart of Wales, along with a spacious garden with hot tub and furniture, Nanthir is a magnificent escape for families looking to come together and experience this idyllic region. Step in from the large driveway into the hall, leading off to the lounge where you can curl up in front of the woodburning stove and chat about the adventures to come. The kitchen invites the head chef to relish in a hearty cooking session, equipped with all the mod cons required for a short stay, whilst the dining area is perfect for hosting mealtimes. A back door leads out to the spacious garden patio with ample seating, a hot tub and a barbecue area, perfect for entertaining long into the night. The first bedroom lies on the ground-floor and features a double bed, whilst upstairs there are two super-king-size rooms, each with zip/link beds and one with an en-suite shower, plus a double bedroom, served by two bathrooms. The final bedroom sits at the top of the tower on the second-floor, presented in a galleried octagonal style with a relaxed seating area and uplifted by natural light from the many windows. Rhayader is a small Welsh market town with a selection of tea rooms, pubs, restaurants, amenities and unique little boutiques, including local antiques. An added bonus of a leisure centre with a large swimming pool and a weekly livestock market. The Red Kite Feeding Station, on the outskirts of the town is a great attraction not to be missed. Rhayader is the first town on the River Wye and is home to the spectacular dams and reservoirs of the Elan and Claerwen Valleys. The Elan Valley offers a variety of walks and cycle trails (cycle hire is available in Rhayader), as well as a visitor’s centre with café and children's play area. This area is known as the Wildlife Centre of Wales, with its amazing variety of nature reserves open for visitors to enjoy. There is also pony trekking available in the area. Visit Builth Wells, where the Spring Festival, Royal Welsh Agricultural Show and Winter Fair are all held annually. Alternatively, a scenic drive will take you to the Welsh coast 34 miles away.

    With the sudden snow it could easily have been longer, and one of our party was forced to stay an extra night because of it (she didn't mind too much). The house somehow managed to be cosy and warm even while it was -4 outside with snow on the ground even before we lit the log burner. Its a very peaceful , well equipped place with a hot rub in the snow and the milky way above being one of the highlights.

    Plenty of room for 10, everywhere very clean, beds comfy, everything you could ever need in the kitchen and the perfect location if you want to get away from it all. I would definately recommend.
