Guests say

The Shippon in Conwy is highly praised for its idyllic location, cosy atmosphere, and welcoming hosts. Guests appreciate the tranquil setting, the presence of friendly farm animals, and the proximity to local attractions. The cottage's charm and the thoughtful touches provided by the owners contribute to a delightful stay, although some guests mention steep stairs and limited Wi-Fi connectivity.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments about cobwebs and a need for minor cleaning upon arrival.

Guests consistently rave about the cottage's location, citing its peaceful rural setting and convenience to Conwy and other North Wales attractions, making it a perfect base for exploration.

The cottage is generally regarded as comfortable and cosy, especially with the woodburner lit. However, some guests note the steep stairs and low ceilings as potential comfort concerns for taller individuals or those with mobility issues.

Facilities are well-received with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. Criticisms include the steep stairs and poor Wi-Fi, which are seen as drawbacks for some visitors.

While guests mention thoughtful gestures such as a warm welcome and helpfulness from the hosts, there is insufficient information about consistent provision of gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts, if provided, are a bonus and not guaranteed.

About this property

A delightful 18th century detached barn nestling within a three acre rural setting in the Conwy Valley. A wonderful property, The Shippon has been beautifully converted and retains many features such as exposed beams and a charming mezzanine bedroom. Outside, the property has a pretty sitting area. It is surrounded by fields with lovely views, and is exceptionally tranquil. The Shippon offers cosy and comfortable accommodation, furnished and decorated to a high standard. The whole area is a paradise for climbers, walkers, cyclists and horseriders alike - the Snowdonia National Park is within easy riding distance, and summer stabling is available. Conwy is a true medieval gem with its magnificent castle, splendid town walks, picturesque harbour and links golf course. An ideal location for a relaxing break any time of the year.

Conwy is an historic town and has been declared a World Heritage Site in recognition of its architecture and other links with the past. The town is most renowned for its medieval castle and town walls that are almost complete, both of which offer fantastic views of Snowdonia and the estuary of the River Conwy. Today Conwy is a bustling town that caters for both tourists and the local community. Ancient buildings sit comfortably among more recent properties and there is an abundance of places to visit. Top of the list is the Castle, but there are many more, including Plas Mawr, an architectural gem and said to be the finest surviving Elizabethan townhouse to be found anywhere in Britain. Towards the quayside you will find Aberconwy House a 14th Century merchant's house believed to be the oldest townhouse in Wales. It has been carefully restored to reflect the daily life of its residents over time. On the quayside you may enter the smallest house in Britain or visit the Aquarium and Conwy mussel museum. Take a boat trip on the river and see the Great Orme, or sail upriver to see the full beauty of the Conwy Estuary and the Conwy Valley.

The property was beautiful, really clean and comfortable. Sarah and Andrew are nice, helpful people and if you needed any advice they were there to help you . Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay and having Duggie come to see us most mornings for a biscuit was a bonus .

The cottage is well positioned to explore North Wales, Anglesey and Snowdonia. Whilst feeling remote it is close to shops and restaurants. The cottage itself is lovely and very comfortable, for taller people beware of the low ceilings but at 6ft I found I managed fine.
