Traditional Snowdonia cottage nestled between two brooks and cascading waterfalls. Discover the treasures of the Mawddach estuary in the footsteps of author, Alfred Wainwright.

Traditional 350 yr old Snowdonia stone cottage in a picturesque valley above the Mawddach Estuary. Owned by the 11th generation of an 850 acre traditional Welsh hill farm. Sketched by author and illustrator, Alfred Wainwright on his travels.

Wild goats roam the upper reaches of this beautiful valley and have done for centuries.

Pedigree herds of Welsh Black cattle and Welsh mountain sheep graze the fields.

Ruskin wrote of this area 'There is no better walk than the one from Barmouth to Dolgellau than the walk from Dolgellau from Barmouth'

Lovers of the outdoors looking to escape with or without a dog will be pleased to use Ty Glan Afon as a very warm and comfortable base camp for exploring the area. Cosy autumn/winter days in front of the log burner or summer days out in the garden cooking on the BBQ.

Ideally located to walk the land, discover ancient ruins, old stone bridges and cascading waterfalls.

Author and illustrator Alfred Wainwright visited the cottage on his travels. The cottage owner remembers Wainwright sitting outside Ty Glan Afon with his grandfather.

Discover Welsh Gold Mining history in the foothills of the famous Clogau gold mines. Once the most prosperous mine in the British Isles, where now the wild goats roam amongst the swathes of heather and bluebells. You can see the famous mountain directly behind the cottage from the cottage windows.

NB Ty Glan Afon is not on mains water. Water pressure may be slow at times.
