This small village in Conwy County overlooks the north coast of Wales on the southern slopes of Mynydd Marian, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Its neighbouring villages include Old Colwyn, Llanddulas and Betwy-yn-Rhos. It has a small number of facilities including a primary school, a convenience store and village hall. The Mynydd Marian Nature Reserve forms part of a range of low limestone hills, with the highest point boasting remarkable views stretching across the Irish Sea. As well as its limestone grassland, you may be lucky enough to spot a rare form of the silver-studded blue butterfly. Nearby, Llanddulas offers shops, pubs and a large beach with a cycle track. The colourful town of Colwyn Bay boasts plenty more attractions, including sandy beaches, a promenade, a large park with a skateboard section, a leisure centre and bowling green, the Welsh Mountain Zoo, Eirias Park, along with many shops, pubs and restaurants. Abergele is positioned between the Vale of Clwyd and the Conwy Valley, perfect for avid walkers and cyclists. Overlooking this town is the inspiring Gwrych Castle, a grade I listed country house offering a rich history and 250 acres of gardens waiting to be discovered. it is peaceful & quiet but was in easy reach of the beautiful beach which we visited most days with our dog Willow.(15 to 20 minute walk). It was one of the best beaches we have visited with hardly anyone on it & had stunning views. The welcome pack of groceries was greatly appreciated after a long journey. Barmouth was only a 10 minute drive & had plenty of parking. We had Sunday lunch at the dog friendly Bay View restaurant & would highly recommend. Staff were friendly & very accommodating. The railway station was in walking distance in the village where there are a couple of shops for groceries.. All in all, we had a great holiday helped with the lovely weather. Hopefully we will be returning sometime soon.
