What our customers say about their holidays
Michael - Verified booking
For relaxation the place is on point as very quiet.
Some of what Iâm about to complain about may sound petty but when you review places you have to put warts and all into it. When arriving you approach a barrier which you have to get out the car and press the ring doorbell for someone to open it. Staff seemed friendly enough to check in then You have to pay a deposit for breakages etc £75 and sign sheet, then given a folder of rules and what to do etc . The park has minimum lighting so when itâs dark itâs dark, you need a torch to walk your dog literally, we had rain (as we do) and areas around the park did get flooded so you definitely need some good footwear. Lodge was rented as luxury which was good enough to live in but had a feel of an old peoples home. Cleanliness was not up to scratch as dust on skirting boards, central heating dial and windows hadnât been cleaned. Hot tub - on settling into the lodge we had a visit from maintenance to show us how to use the tub which was a good touch if you hadnât used one before, tub was adequate although the step up to it was not fixed down and made of wooden decking so was really slippy. Didnât see a maintenance guy at our Hot tub from Friday to Friday to check levels etc, Iâve seen this at other places so would have expected to see someone. WiFi is very limited, itâs free to connect if you sit outside reception but when you move you are on your own data which again can be intermittent. Tv in lodge living room was adequate, smart tv. Tv in bedroom wasnât worth turning on as pixelated and buffered a lot so didnât use it. We noticed you could connect to the lodge WiFi but didnât have a password which was strange if you were actually staying in there. The Croft pub on site was a lovely place to eat and drink with the prices suprisingly reasonable, although it wasnât open everyday and after new year it was closed for 2 weeks for staff holidays which is fair enough but this was not bought to our attention so had to go off site if wanted to eat out or go for a drink. There is no shop on site even just for essentials, you had to go off site which was about 5 min drive. Itâs the second place Iâve been to in 6months that doesnât have an onsite shop which I think is very strange..is this the new thing? There are no dog waste bins around the park only in an exercise area which is not gated off. Recycling or waste bins were no where to be seen around where we stayed so had to leave rubbish in waste bin around by hot tub ( apparently there are some but a long walk from lodges where we stayed. Upon leaving they require you to basically put everything back where it belongs and clean as you arrived this included taking all covers off beds and pillowcases and put in bags provided ( Iâve never had to do this when paying a good amount of money to stay somewhere), leave clean yes we always do as thatâs in my nature but to strip beds and make sure all is correct no. When checking out it was a frosty morning and the drive to reception was treacherous and hadnât been gritted at all, when handed keys there wasnât much interaction with usual how was your stay, hope you enjoyed it but nothing⦠All in all it felt like a place that hadnât finished areas off and decor in lodges are basic for luxury. Recycling looked a big issue as no waste bins in sight. As mentioned at beginning people this is only our feedback as we look for these issues to hopefully give the owners a view from outside and you as possible holiday makers a good insight into holidaying.

This is an amazing place.
We visited in February 2024, finding that this place was big enough for us to holiday with some friends of ours. They have a family of five and we have a family of four, making 9 people in all, including 5 children (all under 10 years old). Itâs nice that itâs a bungalow so you donât have to worry about stairs and children falling down them, and it didn't feel in any way cramped with all the people staying there. This place is it is massive! All the rooms are a good size, but the kitchen / diner / living room is just huge, and a great place to hang out. The weather was just ok while we were here, but that didnât matter as there was plenty of space to play for the kids without having to be outside all the time. Itâs also a very quiet place. When you look out the window all you see is fields, and a little pond/lake. Itâs worth mentioning that it is brand new. This is a great thing, as almost everything in it is new, but there were a couple of âteething problemsâ when we were there. The owners were very quick to respond to our issues, but weâre aware this is common when things are new. We couldnât for the life of us work the record player, for example, but the owner has said she will put in instructions to make this easier to use. We experienced a small leak of water during the heavy rain above the main sliding doors too, but again, the owners addressed this. They were only small and understandable things, and nothing that stopped our stay there from being a great one. Itâs worth mentioning that itâs a bit of a drive to the nearest shops. Thereâs a Co-op in Wem 12 minutes away, but Lidl & Tesco are a 20 minute drive away in Shrewsbury. Not big issues, but just worth being aware of. Despite the weather, we did still manage to get out, enjoying visits to Shrewsbury, Hawkstone Follies and Chirk Castle. All of these places were lovely, and there were plenty of other things we could have done if we were there for longer. Thereâs certainly plenty to do in the area. We couldnât really fault the place. Itâs a great holiday home and we had a great time there. It had everything we needed, and we would love to stay there again, which is why weâre rating it 5 stars.

I stayed at Grange Barn a couple of weeks ago with some friends and we all loved it!
The single-storey accommodation is very spacious and built to a high standard. Despite its size and exposure, itâs very warm and cosy with underfloor heating and good insulation. It is also very well equipped, not just in terms of furniture, kitchen equipment etc. but also in terms of supplies provided by the owners, which far exceeds what most other such accommodation offers. The owners are also very helpful and responsive, I found them a pleasure to deal with. There are 4 good sized bedrooms, one double bed and 3 kings that can be split into singles, the 2 bathrooms (1 ensuite) are spacious with large walk-in showers and dual shower heads, a rain shower and a handheld one. There is also another toilet with a sink, making 3 in total. Even the hallway is spacious and has its own sofa! The coup de grâce is the open lounge and kitchen, itâs enormous and extremely sociable for entertaining and celebrating. It also helps that noise is not an issue, even if the bluetooth Bose speaker (also connected to a vinyl record player) is at full blast. The large, enclosed patio will be brilliant during the summer, the owners already have outdoor furniture and a BBQ would be a welcome addition. We didnât manage get to get the outdoor hot tub going due to bad weather but itâs another indication of the quality of the accommodation. The secluded location can be difficult to find, the postcode is useless and will take you to the wrong place, using what3words (https://what3words.com/library.flexibly.unlisted) and/or following the ownersâ directions is your best bet. The coordinates for the venue are 52°50'53.3"N 2°48'48.3"W â you should be able to enter these into Google Maps to find the exact location. The venue can be used to explore the local meres or for more varied and challenging outdoor activities both the Shropshire Hills and Clwydian Range & Dee Valley areas of natural beauty are around 45 minutes drive away. I highly recommend Grange Barn as a venue and intend to go back at some point.

We had a wonderful stay 3 night stay at Grange Barn.
We were two families meeting up for the first time in approximately 18 months. The house itself was just beautiful, the renovations and decorations have been done immaculately. The communal space was just perfect for us, eating, chatting and dancing! The children were very happy with so much space. There were lots of little extras provided to get you started, that you wouldn't always find in a holiday let, such as tea, coffee, bread, milk, local biscuits, prosecco, dog shampoo... to name a few! This was a lovely touch and added another level of luxury. The owner, Kirsty, was very helpful prior to our stay, answering my questions via email, nothing was too much trouble. They recommended a local pub, The Dickin Arms, where we had a lovely Sunday lunch. My only suggestion might be to look at developing the outside space, in particular the grassed area in front of the terrace, as I could see this being perfect in the Summer for garden games and children playing. We visited at the end of March, so didn't have the weather for it this time! We did make use of the wood-fired hot bath, which took quite a while to prepare, but was lush. (Logs and firelighters provided too!) All in all, a fantastic place that we hope to return to one day, as I am sure there is lots more to explore in the local area (or maybe just to chill out in the beautiful house again!).

This is a new (opened late December 2022) quirky, comfortable, warm, well equipped and clean pod in a quiet location.
It is a the last in line of 4 pods (the others are single story ones) and as it is at the end of the road no one has reason to come up to your pod. It is accessed up a well made farm track with very little around it and that makes for a lovely peaceful location. There is also very little light pollution in the immediate area so on a clear night you can see many stars, fantastic whilst sat in the hot tub. The owner was lovely and helpful on local things to do and left a well received welcome pack for us on arrival. The sunrise view through the front upstairs bedroom window (from the warmth and comfort of bed) across the valley on a clear sky morning was stunning. The hot tub was spotlessly clean and it was warm and ready to use immediately on arrival, it was also chemical checked by the owner daily. The walks directly from the pod on the hills behind it are endless and a fantastic benefit to have from the doorstep. The wifi at the pod was strong and stable and there is a good phone signal there too. The pod is not suitable to all due to the tight spiral staircase and the open plan and low ceiling bedrooms, but it was absolutely brilliant for us (2 adults and an 11 year old).
