What our customers say about their holidays

Wifi, although advertised as available, was non secured and would not connect anyway.
Not really a problem for us, but might be for others who may need it. There is a very noisy main road just below the property, the noise from which is quite invasive by day when outside or if windows are open. However it dissipates at night. Having said that, the woodland location and seclusion is perfect for those who enjoy walking and wildlife (we saw deer rutting, a fox, rabbits, birds of prey and squirrels from the house, and were serenaded by an owl (Little Owl?) most nights. There are numerous walks from the door, or further afield. The cottage itself is very warm and cosy, with plenty of wood for the fire/woodburer and piping hot water. We were only contacted twice by the caretaker, once to make sure we had arrived and were happy, and once just before we left to give us leaving details. Other than that we were left to our own devices. Just as we like. There were not reams of rules and regulations as is sometime the case at holiday cottages, so we instantly felt at home. Just one or two niggles : the upstairs loo takes an age to refill and the upstair shower head is "lazy" and wont stay upright. Perhaps a mirror over the basin would be better for those who wet shave. As a cottage in which to recharge the batteries it is perfect and had the desired effect.

We rented the property for a three generation get together for Christmas and it fulfilled that criteria well.
Although the photographs show a somewhat dated bungalow what it did not show was this has clearly been, or still is, someoneâs home with their possessions still in situ. Now some people may like that but I prefer to rent a more sterile property. On arrival the property was very cold and musty. A note had been left saying â The heating should come on 3 times a day on a timer. One hour in the morning about 7am, one hour at lunchtime about 1pm, a couple of hours in the evening about 6pm.â There was an electric fire in the lounge but that was inadequate to heat such a large property. The first nights sleep was disturbed because the bedrooms were very cold with inadequate thin duvet. We had no choice but to override the timer or vacate the property as we had two young children in the party. On the plus side the owners had decorated the property with a Christmas tree and outside lights. There was plenty of hot water and they provided a welcome pack with mince pies and Christmas crackers for the children.

Melita is a very well equipped bungalow in beautiful countryside close to Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury so great for exploring and lovely country walks.
Lots of games, puzzles and toys for children and treats for dogs. It is close by the busy main road so noisy early morning. A generous 'welcome pack' awaited us and a much needed cuppa was very gratefully received. The quirks of the bungalow is that there are too many pretty ornaments as this leaves less space for us to put things especially in the back bedroom where 8 items on the tallboy left no space for personal items. An empty wall shelving would definitely have helped. A smaller wardrobe might leave a few more inches to squeeze by the lovely wide comfy bed. All towels were exceptionally large clean and fluffy and hot water always 'on tap' but the hall toilet sounded like a ship's horn when flushed. Seating was not comfortable enough after a busy day and proper seat cushioning on the conservatory seats would help as sun lounger covers so uncomfortable and gave no support we couldn't use them. All this being said we have a lovely week together at Melita. Thank you Helen and Robert. -

The house was a beautiful location and we loved it.
However on arrival there was a very strong smell of oil which made everything taste of oil and was very unpleasant for 2 days and probably not good for the health. We couldn't spend time relaxing downstairs and eating was not an option unless we wanted to taste anything other than oil. Ironically I had asked for the aroma sticks to be removed as we have an extremely sensitive sense of smell. Angie Brown was very helpful in getting out an engineer within the evening of the second day of our stay. The smell started to subside after that but it was a while before it disappeared although we could sometimes smell it when we returned after a day out. I appreciate that these things happen but I understand that this had been known about for 2 weeks and yet we still had to get an engineer out who spent at least an hour on it. For such a lovely place this didn't give us a good start. The surroundings were lovely and generally peaceful. We would come again if there was no repeat of the oil leak.

Had a lovely stay at Bonnings Cottage.
Very clean and tidy. Garden was lovely but could do with 5 chairs for sitting outside instead of 2 as the cottage is for 5 people. Television needs to be put on the shelf so that everyone can watch the television. It didn't bother us as we didn't watch it but others might.Parking is tight and had to be careful that you didn't scratch the bottom of your car but it does mention the parking in the description. Be careful of other nosy neighbours who assume that any car parked in the lane belongs to the cottage. We had an incident of someone reporting us to the owner when, in fact, it was a visitor to another property. We had parked in the road as advised. It was sorted but beware that some people do not like holidaymakers. Jennifer, the owner, was lovely about it all. Would use this cottage again if we wanted to visit the area. Pub in the village was expensive but lovely food. Barrington Court was easy to walk to and our elderly Cocker Spaniel enjoyed his stay there too.
