What our customers say about their holidays

We as a family of three stayed at 3 Wilson Cottages for three nights over Easter weekend.
We thought that the cottage was very true to its listing and the pictures provided on the website were very accurate. The house was clean and well maintained, with comfy beds and a well-equipped kitchen. It was great to have the hot tub, which was clean and set to a good a temperature, though it is slightly overlooked by the neighbours. After reading other reviews that said the house was freezing we took hot water bottles as we were expecting to be cold. However, though the radiators were turned off when we first arrived, we thought that they soon warmed up when they were turned on. The log burner in the living room was amazing and we wished we had one in our home! We lit it on each of the three evenings and the house was super toastie, so we didn't need the hot water bottles after all! It was also nice to have the two pubs in the village and we ate in The Star one evening, which was reasonably priced and had tasty food. It's a bit of a trek to the nearest supermarket, but the location was good if you want a quite few days away. If you want a more action-packed break be prepared to travel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend 3 Wilson Cottages for a couple or small family.

Undoubtedly a beautiful location, the view from the sofa was outstanding . Beautiful and fully equipped cottage . Any critism would be that it was over stocked, for instance the bread maker took a large amount of kitchen space ! I would agree though that the smell of fresh bread on arrival is a plus . Lots of extras included . A tiny cottage, for 2 adults and we only had one small dog although 2 were allowed . Everything was of superb quality , bedding towels etc . Prior to arrival I felt slightly bombarded with messages about not arriving before 5pm . And almost as though we were being watched . We parked up at 4.45 and took the dog for a walk before going into Ewelands . It was quite an uncomfortable start . We also left the day before our due date because of the 9.30 leaving time, again feeling the pressure . Having said that we had a lovely holiday with every comfort provided .

Beautiful cottage ideally situated for for the coast, lake district or the dales.
Pub directly opposite. Please be aware that the free car park is for 23 hours, saw some cars with tickets so make sure you move your car for a while each day. The only thing I didn't like and it's only a very minor thing, is the shared pathway to the gardens. It was fine till the last couple of days as nobody else was staying on the other cottages but then someone turned up next door with two enormous dogs and unfortunately thought it was OK not to pick up their mess on the pathway. We only have a miniature dachshund so were confident it wasn't our dog that had done it due to the amount there was, also had to be careful not to let her out if they were there as she would've been cornered if they decided to go for her. Only a minor point but worth knowing. On the whole a lovely place and would highly recommend and we really enjoyed our stay ( apart from the odd huge spider

The cottage was in a quiet village with no local shop or really anywhere to walk the dog.
We found a farm track just up the road but not sure if we were trespassing. (turn left from the cottage and cross over the road, track goes up a bit of a hill). The cottage had no cleaning items (anti bac spray etc) but did provide washing and dishwasher tablets, two tea towels but no hand towel for the kitchen. The garden is fairly small, slabbed and slate, no grass area, the hot tub was great but I did notice some dirt residue on the bottom before we first used it and when switched on, it must have churned it up as it left a soap scum around one of the edges. We found lots of fantastic walking areas, but had to travel between 30 mins to just over an hour as the village is very remote. Can definitely recommend Raincliffe Woods and Falling Foss.

We enjoyed our stay but there was some issues.
First I got stuck in the bathroom because of the lock, luckily the owners came quickly to let me out but it's not the point. Either fix the lock or remove it. Secondly the bedroom blinds make it very difficult to get a good night sleep, there is a light outside the building so with it being light grey blinds light easily came in so it was difficult to sleep. Please change the blinds to black or add some curtains. And final thing is the bath shower, the glass covering is not enough, whenever I had a shower water would get all over the floor which made it dangerous when getting out of the bath/shower. Please get a floor mat or a shower curtain. Other than these issues it is a nice apartment but I have stayed in better.
