  Puffin Retreat is perhaps a lovely name, but this Property is anything but a Burrow! Lovely modern spacious property, the outside aspect surrounding a little communal, but it is so close to Town centre & amenities/Beach, no dissapointment. Well decorated, with some lovely thoughtful personal touches ( throws for cool evenings, games for children, welcome Gift) Extremely well thought out & presented Manual to help guide visitors. Although we did struggle, to understand how to put the heating on, for cool evenings. Fitted out beautifully, especially the kitchen. I loved the corner cupboard, the door simple yet effective. The utensils lovely, plenty of floor space, very well designed, downstairs & up. The beds were extremely comfortable, very soft, bedding too, clean cotton cool & warm on cold nights. Excellent shower, although not a walk-in. The fixed stairgate for us, was very welcome, with a young child in our Party. My eldest son & I really enjoyed our stay although sadly may not return, as my Mobility has deteriorated ( had hired a Boot Scooter which failed sadly) so that I will need an Accessible Property in the future. However, highly recommend this Property, especially welcomingly cool, after hot days on the Beach! Appreciate the Parking provided, with a very friendly neighbour. Braunton is a very friendly welcolming Town, with a lively Community local feel. I heard someone say & happen to agree, those that visit, often would love to stay!!! For me, Devon outshines Dorset. In my youth, I loved Dorset, but it has changed & become too expensive & not value for money. Devon's Beaches are beautiful, the local people even, clearly love life there. My destination of choice especially, as not too far to Travel. Most envious of those, able to fully enjoy, all it has to offer. Can recommend Waves, where you csn decorate a Ceramic of your choice. We have never done before, but found it an engaging way to relax! Many thanks to the Owners & Housekeeper, for ensuring our stay, was very enjoyable.

  We stayed as a family of 4 in July and found this to be a great base for visiting all of the local areas. When we came home each evening it was easy to use the local pubs, restaurants and takeaways for food without having to drive as there were plenty to choose from on the doorstep and also having the well-stocked Co-op just round the corner was perfect for getting what we needed to self-cater. The cottage is small but spacious as its open plan. It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cleaning products to get started with, plus a cordless hoover to use as needed. The quality of the crockery and glasses were much nicer and they were clean and plentiful, the same for bedding and towels which were fluffy and comfortable. The little shed outside had some body boards and beach equipment in that we borrowed and then put back for the next guests which was a lovely touch and saved us having to buy these as we hadn't brought our own. The parking is off-road, but there is only enough length for one car - however we have a large Audi estate and it was perfect for us, the car was secure and well back from the pavement. Our only query would be that there was no information left regarding the bin collection days and this would have been helpful as the bin was quite full already on our arrival and we would liked to have put this out for collection so it could be fully emptied. But overall we would have no hesitation in recommending this property, we had a fabulous holiday and look forward to returning again!

  Stepcott Cottage was even better than we expected. There was nothing we needed during our stay that was not provided and the quality of the furnishings and facilities were high. Lovely fresh linens and fluffy towels were provided. Gas central heating and a beautiful fire in the lounge were very welcome on wild November evenings! The cottage is very close to the town centre with pubs, restaurants and shops for provisions just a short walk away. It was our first trip away with our young labrador and it worked out really well, with rear access to the property via a utility room to clean her (and us) up after a hectic day at the breath-taking dog-friendly beaches nearby. We took a dog crate with us for her to sleep in but there was a small dog bed provided for a smaller, more sedate pooch! There is also a small grassy recreation area just at the end of the road. A really welcoming place to.stay.

  A very warm, clean, comfortable and welcoming property that is well appointed with modern appliances. We especially appreciated the enormous television, wood burner and EV charge point. There is off road parking but the entrance is narrow and anyone with a large SUV would find manoeuvring challenging. We feel that this property is best avoided by the elderly and those with mobility issues as the stairs are steep and slippery and the bath is deep and not fitted with a grab handle. Despite these comments, we had a lovely holiday in this charming property and thoroughly recommend it. The "Aggi" pub two minutes away is extremely friendly and provides a decent menu at fair prices. Unfortunately because of the weather we were unable to use the attractive outside sitting area, but this property provides an excellent base for exploring north Devon.

  This was our first visit to North Devon and it will certainly not be our last. Stepcott Cottage in the village of Braunton was the perfection location allowing us visit the superb beaches, Saunton Sands, Croyde, Woolacombe along with the many other North Devon attractions. The accommodation was ideal for our party of 3 along with Percy the pooch! It really was a bonus to find so many dog friendly beaches, cafes and restaurants. Braunton has a great selection of restaurants all within walking distance of Stepcott. We enjoyed all out meals but special mention must go to Squires Fish & Chips, The Williams Arms and The George Inn. We enjoyed our holiday so much we will be back to Devon and Stepcott Cottage.
