The property offers a peaceful retreat with a well-equipped kitchen and efficient heating system. The host, Mary, is commended for her kindness and helpfulness. The traditional cottage provides a cosy atmosphere, ideal for those seeking tranquillity and proximity to nature.
Reviewers consistently mention the cottage being 'lovely and clean', indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the property.
The location is celebrated for its peace, quiet, and beautiful scenery, though access involves narrow lanes. Its proximity to local amenities and sights is also appreciated.
The cottage is described as warm and comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a cosy kitchen/diner area, although one guest noted the main bed felt small.
Facilities like a dishwasher, washing machine, and efficient heating are well-received. However, the placement of an additional freezer in the hallway and minor bathroom condensation are noted drawbacks.

In fact, the only passing traffic during our stay was a farmer on his tractor, once, all week. Crossmolina is only a 10 minute drive away with 2 small supermarkets and a petrol station. We spent most evenings in the kitchen/diner with electric fire, TV with most freeview channels, and full kitchen. The small fridge with small freezer compartment is supplemented by a full size fried/freezer which is really useful but is unfortunately sited in the hallway which makes nighttime visits to the bathroom a little tricky. We only used the main bedroom with the 4 foot 6 inch bed which was fairly comfortable but seemed a little small when used to a queen size bed. Bathroom air temperature was a little cold because itâs in an exposed position at the back of the house and we were trying to be economic with heating. There is a wall mounted fan heater for use when showering though. Condensation in the bathroom was a minor problem but didnât affect our stay. If youâre looking for a reasonably priced quiet traditional cottage then Howleys may fit the bill.

The whole family enjoyed our time at this special peaceful cottage with it's lovely view. We look forward to our next visit sometime in the future. Mary thought of everything in the cottage and was on hand if we needed anything.

Scenery makes up for it though.
