Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. Lots of extra touches provided, including fresh eggs from the owners chickens, to enjoy. The views both back and front from the picture windows, are amazing. We spent ages just watching the light change on the fells. As well as watching the wild rabbits play in the next door wild garden. The Horse and Farrier just down the road is a lovely authentic coaching inn, serving great food. We had a fabulous week despite significant rainfall - nothing dampened our enjoyment of staying in this wonderful cottage.

It was very comfortable and clean and there were lots of extra things added for dogs which made our stay very easy. The welcome pack including freshly laid eggs was a lovely touch - bright yellow yolks and they were delicious! It is a real find and we hope to return soon.
