Rose Cottage in Cumbria & The Lake District receives high praise for its comfort, cleanliness, and prime location for exploring the Southern Lake District. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy living spaces, and the secure garden, ideal for pets. The cottage's charm and the owners' responsiveness contribute to a homely and enjoyable stay. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is very positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The majority of guests report that Rose Cottage is spotlessly clean upon arrival, with only a few isolated comments about cleanliness issues. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule, indicating a generally high standard of cleanliness.
Guests are delighted with the cottage's location, finding it ideal for exploring the Southern Lake District and appreciating the quiet village setting. The proximity to local amenities, such as a pub and shop, and the ease of access to nearby attractions, contribute to the high rating.
Comfort is frequently highlighted, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the living areas cosy, especially with the log burner. The secure garden adds to the comfort for those with pets. A few mentions of the property being chilly prevent a perfect score.
Facilities at Rose Cottage are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. However, some guests mention maintenance issues such as a broken oven element and a lack of certain amenities upon arrival, which affects the score.
While some guests mention a welcome basket and gifts, such as Prosecco, these are not consistently referenced across the reviews. As it cannot be determined if such gestures are a standard practice for all stays, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available information.

Ideal base for exploring whole of the the Lake District. Cottage comfortable and cosy with an easy to operate heating system and the kitchen is well equipped. Great walk in shower. The village hotel is only a 5 minute walk away and serves good food. Off-road parking space right outside the garden gate which is handy. Would happily stay here again.

The cottage was lovely and clean with plenty of facilities to make the holiday comfortable and enjoyable. Paul and Sara are very welcoming and helpful. We were able to bring our dog with us to the cottage. The porch with a tiled floor is great for cleaning a muddy dog. The local area is beautiful with a great country pub just down the road. This cottage is perfect for anyone wanting a quiet getaway with plenty of space to explore on the doorstep. I imagine we will be back soon.
