About this property

Fabulously-located in the pretty village of Coniston, Cumbria is this superb four-bedroom dwelling, Holme Fell. Benefitting from pet-friendly accommodation, a woodburning stove and stunning views of the Lake District National Park, Holme Fell welcomes up to eight guests to bask in the ultimate escape to Cumbria. Upon entering your new home-from-home, take the weight off your feet in the open-plan living space, ideal for hosting family mealtimes and spending quality time altogether; kick back on the sofa as your other half gets to grips with the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up a tasty home-cooked meal, either to be enjoyed at the breakfast bar or outside in the enclosed garden. Soak up your surroundings and pop open a bottle of fizz as you debrief on the day’s events so far or plan for the one’s ahead. If the evening grows cooler, retreat to a homely living/dining and cosy up in front of the roaring woodburning stove, ready to relish a movie marathon or catch up on your favourite shows on the Smart TV. If it’s some much-needed rest and recovery you’re seeking, why not take advantage of three splendid en-suite bathrooms or a ground-floor shower room, treating yourself to a warm shower or indulgent soak in the tub prior to catching some rest. Choose from a super-king-size, king-size or double on the first floor, or a super-king-size (zip/link) on the ground floor to snooze the evening away, all neatly-presented with plenty of storage to house your belongings in. If you can tear yourself away, kickstart your itinerary with a stroll into Coniston where you’ll find The Ruskin Museum, in addition to a lovely selection of shops and pubs which are ideal for stocking up on the essentials or treating your family to a hearty lunch. Heading towards Coniston Water, be sure to stop off at the National Trust owned Steam Yacht Gondola, Hougan Manor Estate and Brantwood, before taking a dip or trying your hand at a range of watersports upon the third-largest lake in the Lake District. For plenty more to see and do, head to Bowness-on-Windermere, home to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, in addition to the much-loved author’s former home at Hill Top, Orrest Head Viewpoint and Holehird Gardens, with Wray Castle and Fell Foot, also residing only a short distance away in Ambleside. Well-positioned to also visit Rydal, Grasmere and Kendal, all with a plethora of amenities and attractions to experience, Holme Fell is the perfect base from which to explore all that the Lake District has to offer.

Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere, and Grasmere are all within a short drive of Coniston, a charming community that sits at the head of Coniston Water and is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Lake District National Park. Locally, Grizedale Forest's wonderful wooded trails, Coniston Old Man, and Wetherlam offer excellent hiking, mountain biking, and climbing opportunities. For those who appreciate water activities, the calm lake is perfect for canoeing and dinghy sailing, while those who are less energetic can take a leisurely ride aboard the lovely steam boat "Gondola" or visit Brantwood, the old residence of John Ruskin. The Beatrix Potter Gallery is located in the award-winning community of Hawkshead, which is also close to Tarn Hows, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the nation, and Esthwaite Water, a popular fishing place. An excellent holiday destination any time of year.
