"Gaze through the windows of this handsome Lakeland residence, where every room has a view and contemporary meets traditional. Enter through the porch into the oak-floored entrance hall. The light and stylish lounge has superb views, an array of comfy furnishings and a TV. The well-equipped kitchen / dining room also reveals wonderful dual aspect views, and then opens out to the furnished patio and lovely rear garden. Upstairs to the 3 spacious bedrooms all enjoying glorious views, with tasteful decorations and deep, inviting beds. Two elegantly laid out bathrooms on this floor, 1 with shower room and 1 with shower over bath. Within walking distance of Ambleside village centre and the shores of Lake Windermere, Uldale is slightly elevated in a peaceful location, commanding views to Loughrigg Fell and the famous Fairfield Horseshoe. Ambleside is steeped with history; pretty traditional Lakeland cottages and ancient buildings share the streets with local shops, sophisticated boutiques and an array of cafes and eateries. There's plenty to do and see, even in the evenings - Ambleside is home to several bars and acclaimed Lake District restaurants as well as plenty of options for family entertainment. There are even two high quality, independent cinema venues and a jazz bar. Waterhead pier and the lake itself is a 20 minute walk from Ambleside, for lake cruises, boat hire and just enjoying the serene waters. "
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Lovely house, great location, comfortable throughout, we had a great stay at uldale, the only negatives are, that the garden could do with a tidy, overgrown bushes, just could be a lot neater, only had 3 drinking tumbles and 3 wine glasses, the carpet in the lounge, could do with replacing, as there is a tear, which will only get worse, but all in all, lovely stay

We were 5 adults and a dog - found the house to be a great size for all of us and very comfortable. Lovely to have an enclosed garden for the dog - and enjoyed by us too. We appreciated the extras ( washer tabs, dish washer tabs, dish cloths etc). Other reviews mentioned no extras such as salt etc - good to know in advance and not a problem as we took our own supplies. The cottage is in a good location for walks out and handy for the shops. We barely used our car during our stay. We would recommend the cottage.
