Riverside Retreat is highly praised for its outstanding cleanliness, modern amenities, and tranquil location by the river, brimming with wildlife. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, well-equipped property, and the thoughtful touches, including quick responses to issues and provision of fishing nets for children. The picturesque views and proximity to local attractions enhance the experience, despite minor feedback on maintenance and accessibility for disabled guests.
Reviewers consistently mention the exceptional cleanliness of the property, highlighting it as immaculate and well-maintained, which suggests a very high standard of hygiene and attention to detail.
The property's location is frequently described as perfect, tranquil, and ideal for exploring the Lake District, with easy access to amenities and attractions, contributing to its high rating.
Comfort is a strong point, with numerous guests finding the beds very comfortable and the property cosy. However, there is a minor issue with a bedroom being too small, which slightly affects the score.
Facilities are generally praised, especially the modern kitchen and bathroom, but there are comments about the shower's water temperature and strength, and the lack of a bath contrary to the listing, which impacts the score.

"This contemporary retreat enjoys a lovely setting on the banks of the River Leven, at the southern tip of Lake Windermere. The converted Lakeland barn is thoroughly modernised, with contemporary open plan living spaces sitting alongside some of the original features. On the first floor into the porch, the living area enjoys fabulous views, vaulted ceiling and original beams. The dining area has patio doors leading to the huge suntrap balcony – fantastic for al fresco dining and drinking in the view over the river. With a sleek fitted kitchen, 2 chic bedrooms, 1 king-size and one double and a modern shower room with walk-in shower, you’ll be settled in no time. Kayaking and canoeing are just a couple of the ways you'll make the most of nearby access to the lake. Just 100 yards over the bridge is your fabulous local at the Swan Hotel and Spa. Idyllic! In the hamlet of Newby Bridge, close to the A590 you'll enjoy easy access to the many attractions of the Southern and Western Lake District and very easily accessible from the M6 - bypassing the busier tourist routes. Get out and about to the Lakes Aquarium, and the Lakeside Haverthwaite Steam Railway. The lovely Lakeside Hotel & Spa is next to them, offering fabulous food and drink options. Also close by is the Motor Museum and Cafe Ambio. Windermere Lake Cruises depart from Lakeside Pier. These elegant Windermere steamers ferry passengers to Bowness and Ambleside - a relaxed way to explore and admire the scenery without having to use your car. "
The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.
